Hi

To clear this error condition, try and reset your forerunner. The reset will delete all User data and profiles. To reset the Forerunner press and hold enter and quit simultaneously until the screen goes blank (7-10 seconds). Continue holding the quit button but release the enter button. Now follow the onscreen instructions. If error condition is still there then try and update the software by garmin web software. Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Homepatrol scans but does not stop at any signels

Squelch setting set too high perhaps, reduce the squelch until you can hear something, then turn it up slowly until it start to scan again.
Radio Control Bar
The row of buttons across the top of the Main screen lets you fine-tune HomePatrol-1 reception, access Help, and reenter system configuration.
Button
Definition
Squelch
Sets how strong a signal must be before HomePatrol-1 stops on it.
Range
Controls how many channels are selected based on your location and systems' locations. Small range settings result in fewer systems and departments selected. A selection bar lets you set the range in 2-mile increments. Each screen tap is 0.5 miles.
Atten (Attenuation)
Reduces signal interference if you are in an area where there are a lot of radio signals. If Attenuation is set to ON, the status indicator turns red.
GPS
Displays the status of a connected GPS unit.
Help
Displays Help text.
Tap and hold to redo initial setup configuration.

Hope this helps

How does the e3200treadmill fat calories work with the regular calories burnt.

Add incline. Instead of keeping the treadmill on a flat surface, maintain an incline as you walk, jog or run. This will serve to replicate the wind resistance and terrain variation that you encounter when you run outdoors. Keep an incline of at least 1.5 percent on your treadmill throughout your workout.

  • 2 Increase your speed. If you run at the same speed every time you workout, your body will not be challenged and you may reach a fitness plateau. Up your speed by a quarter-mile per hour every few weeks.
  • 3 Vary your workout time. In order to challenge your body in different ways, variety is key. If you run for half an hour three times a week, opt for a one-hour run for your fourth workout. This will help to condition your body for endurance training, resulting in more calories burned.
  • 4 Use intervals. Interval training can dramatically increase your calorie burn in an average workout. Instead of running at a steady pace for your entire workout, mix in sprints. Jog at a steady pace for two minutes, and then increase your speed to a full sprint for 30 seconds. Return to the steady pace to recover. Your heart rate will rise on your intense sprint intervals and stabilize on your longer recovery periods.
  • 5 Incorporate incline into your interval training. You can use incline in the same manner that you would speed to interval train. Walk or jog at a 5 percent incline for two minutes. Increase the incline to 10 percent for two minutes and then to the 15 percent maximum for one minute. Decrease the incline back to 10 percent for two minutes and finally back to 5 percent for two minutes. Repeat this same pyramid interval a few times.
  • 6 Wear a heart rate monitor. This will monitor how hard you are actually working as well as how many calories you burn in each workout. You can then adjust your speed and incline accordingly to maximize your calorie burn.
  • 7 Drink plenty of water before, during and after your treadmill workout. If you are dehydrated, you won't perform as well as you can. You'll work harder and burn more calories if you're hydrated

When I am in heavy timber and not moving at a good pace my compass points in the opposite direction it is supposed to. What am I doing wrong? When I walk down the road it works perfectly.

The Garmin 12 GPS loses sattelite reception in heavy woods and that's why it doesn't work properly. It's not a fault and you're not doing anything wrong. All Garmin 12s are the same.

Garmin Forerunner 305 miscalculating ascent and calories

Firstly, the ascent and descent are only approximate, and can be very approximate! This is because it's using GPS to calculate your height above sea level when GPS is really only accurate for position Lat and Long. When calculating height, a very, very small error can lead to a large variation in actual height. You should never use a GPS for height if needed for navigation (ie climbing walking etc) If you need accuaracy you will need to get a barometric altimeter.v

As for calories, I think you have identified your problem, it's calculating calories on running not cycling. Not sure what the answer is as I don't know what software you are using but if you are using Garmin TC, bin it and use SportTracks. Takes a bit of getting used to but to really get the best out of your 305 this is excellent software and it's free. Any anomolies like your calorie issue/wrong category import can be changed manually plus a whole host of other stuff. Garmin doesn't even let you edit activities - crazy.

    My watch keeps beeping!

Sounds like you need to lock the bezel, because it is always active and will change even with accidental brushing against body or clothes. Choose the screen yuo want to display and press the two buttons on the side at the same time and your bezel should lock. A brief message will appear onscreen. Do the same to unlock. With the bezel locked you can start and stop the session timer as usual using the start/stop button at top right.

Can't get my GPS to turn on with the Garmin 405

I too was frustrated because of this. I played with the watch until I found the solution. Hope this helps!

For some reason I needed to be in the training mode to do this.

From the Time/Date mode, do the following:
1.) Press the start/stop button (upper metal button) to get out of Time/Date mode
2.) Press the Training side of the bezzle. You will see a workout display.
3.) Touch the GPS side of the bezzle until "to location" shows up
4.) Press the lap/reset button (lower metal button) to display a menu (may have to do this a couple of times, eventually when you release the button the menu does show up)
5.) Slide downward through the menu options until you find GPS
6.) Click the start/stop button (upper metal button) to toggle the gps on or off
7.) Press the lap/reset button (lower metal button) to exit the menu (goes to the "to a location" screen)
8.) Press and hold the Training side of the bezzle to return to your training screen
