Disconnect any woofers and retry the ignition sequence (if still in protection get yourself a digital multimeter and check to make sure you have @ least 12volts of power (if under 10 volts the amp will go in protection from under voltage)and good ground as well as remote if you do have all these things return the amp where you bought it or have it checked out) if the amp works you have a blown woofer

Why this planet audio protection light always comes on when i turn up the car audio

The amp in question is a very entry level amp. Meaning it needs to be ran at moderate ohm load. And have plenty of power to feed it. Check your grounds. Pos. Etc.

Protection light is on all connections are ok

If the protection lights are on it you will need to check the owners manual to figure out why it is in protection mode. The most likely reason is that the power wires are not properly connected. This could be the ground wire not being solidly connected to the vehicle chassis in a paint-free location or it could be the live power wire. Check your connections and connect them all properly. That should fix the problem.

Red protection light

make sure amp is not grounded out or shorted out like if u miss and touch ground to power or the other way around protect light usaully comes on be resets once u turn the amp power off then back on . if that don't fix it maybe ur amp needs some repairs inside.

What does the red and green light mean ???

red and green light? there is most likely a protection and a power light. The red I assume would either be a protection light or a clipping light signal. Does the amp kick off then these lights kick on red then to green?

Protection light keeps comin on

Unfortunately, P/A does not release schematics - even to repair techs. You have to find a knowledgeable repairman, or ship it to P/A.

1-888-990-1236 for support, and RA# info.

Plan to be without your amplifier, as NEW WARRANTY repairs are backlogged approx. 6 mo.

Rule out external problems by hooking it up to an isolated bench power supply.

If planning on doing your own repairs, see this site for info.

P/A has an ONLINE SUPPORT WEBSITE to order parts etc, and may be a useful resource as well. Do some fishing, and you may find what you're looking for.

I will too, and post any findings.

More than likely, your speakers are wired up in such a manner that they are creating more resistance than what the amp can handle. That's usually what puts amps into protect mode.

Car speakers should be 8ohm's resistance, but if you're bridging and running a dual voice-coil sub or two subs in series... you could have inadvertedly wired it up so the amp is seeing 4 or 16 ohms of resistance? (depending on which way you went)

Try removing the speaker wire completely, then turn the amp/car on and see if it still goes into protect.
