Jenn-Air JGS8860BDP Stainless Steel Gas Kitchen Range Logo
Posted on May 14, 2017

I recently purchased a used Jenn Air range model JGS8860BDP. When I looked at the range all burners turned on as did the oven. We have just hooked the unit up and the burners are not working well and the oven is not climbing in temperature like it did when I tested it before buying. However, I set the convection oven on to 350 and it did climb, VERY SLOWLY, to 158 before I just turned it off. Do I need to order a new spark module, and what about thte oven? Is there a pilot light that needs to be lit? Thank you! Lisa

SOURCE: Jenn-Air Convection Oven

Our 7 year old "Jenn-Air Convection Oven", Canadian Model # SVE47600 also has a very dim display. We can barely read the temperature on the oven. Does anyone know what is wrong, how to fix it, and what it may cost us?

SOURCE: Jenn-Air electric range

my jen-Air has a problem with it continuing to beep. Ive tried to get it to stop by pushing all the buttons. When I pust the off/cancel button it just keeps beeping. Tried the stop timer button and same thing. When I turn on either the bake or convection bake button it automatically just shuts off by itself. It is approx 10-13 years old. HELP, or please tell me to get a new one.

Jenn-air JGS8860BDP keeps going off around 200. Self clean works fine. I have changed the oven sensor & oven igniter. What am I missing?

if self clean works then sensor igniter did not need changing
sounds like the control was changed to c
top temp is around 550 f or 260 c
check your manual on changing range c to f

I purchased a house w/ a Jenn-air elect. drop-in range. The Model # is 87946 or 87847. I believe the range was originally purchased in 1975. I am in need of an instruction manual .

Neither of these are a typical Jenn-Air model number. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US suggests that the model number is on the back wall under the burner on the right side of a drop-in cooktop. For a range the model number is often on the frame inside the oven door, below the vent or on the back of the top of the range.

87946 or 87847 are the part numbers for the cartridges (the elements or the surrounding housing).

Look at the model number locations at the "Help me find my model number" link and try to locate a model number on your range. Then enter that model into the search box. The manual is probably available with the correct part number. Most Jenn-air electric cooktops start with JEC in their model number.

I hope this helps you locate the manual.

My folks recently purchased a house with a Jenn-Air S160 electric grill-range/oven. The left hand side electric burner cartridge's back burner superheats on the low setting. I've switched the burner...

Sounds like the problem is in the control assy. especially if you switched the burnners and the problem remained. Go to the jenn-air website and see if they have a parts breakdown for your unit.
Record the model number of the unit before you search, you will need that info.

Gas range igniters won't shut off

The problem that you're describing is commonly associated with the spark modulator. It usually occurs after a spill or when the ignitor electrodes have remained wet after a cleaning. If after a day or two it continues to spark intermittently on its own, then the only recourse would be to replace the module. Hope this helps,,,, Bill

Ignitor would not turn off on front left burner

Same problem with the ignitors on the burners myself.  But only when i turn on the left side burners do they continually spark.  Any one know what ignition module on this?  How does it prove flame?  To ground?  Might I have a bad ground causing it to not rectify the flame?
