Just a note. the DC530 is the last of the IDE system MB from HP.
It is recommeded,You download both versions of the audio drivers depending on your chipset there were 3 releases of the dc530 the new version doesn't work well with the older chipsets.
out of the 300 dc530's I have in my lab for regression use we have tobe careful as to the version we load.
Just an FYI
Good luck

How to Fix Issue When All Sounds from Computer Sound Like Chipmunks

Chipmunk Sounds From Computer Speakers
My wife had an interesting issue over the weekend. Anything she played on her computer came through the speakers sounding like chipmunks. You've heard the Alvin and the Chipmunks albums, that's what it sounded like. It didnt matter if it was a Windows sound (wav file), and MP3, a WMV, or any other multimedia. Everything sounded like a chipmunk was playing it. The sounds were played too fast and too high pitched.

Her computer is an Acer with a Realtek sound card built into the motherboard. It has the Realtek HD Audio Manager built into it and I thought at first that something had changed with the audio settings. However, after examining the audio utility and choosing to reset the environment back to its defaults the chipmunk sound was still present.

he Realtek Manager also has an option for Karaoke Mode, which basically removes the voice track when playing a song. Changing this feature had no effect on the system.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Sound Card

The only way I found to truly fix the issue was to uninstall and reinstall the Sound Card. Follow the directions below to accomplish this.

1) Open Device Manager by Right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. Then click on Device Manager

2) Under the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers section, Right-click on Realtek High Definition Audio and then click on Uninstall.

017e192.jpg

3) Close the Device Manager and Reboot your computer

4) After the computer reboots, allow it to automatically find the Realtek audio device on its own and reinstall the drivers. You may be required to reboot the computer a second time after the drivers for the sound card load.

5) Test the sound card by playing an MP3, WAV, WMA, or other sound or by watching a video online.

The problem should be fixed. If for some reason, you are still experiencing a chipmunk-like sound coming from your speakers, visit the sound card manufacturers website and download and install new drivers for the sound card.

My soundcard isnt working on my computer is there a way i can fix it?

Hi,you can try this uninstall the sound card driver, then reboot your computer. When you reboot the computer the operating system will automatically reinstall the sound card driver.
This is how to uninstall the driver in windows 7,you didn't say what operating systyem you have so I'm hoping this helps.
Click start and open Control Panel by default the window will open in Category view (top right) click the arrow and slect Large icons.Once that is done look on that page for Device Manager and left click.
A new window will open called Device Manager, look for Sound,Video and game controlers and left click the arrow,You will see the installed Audio devices, right clicking the listed installed components will give the option to update or uninstall. After you finish uninstalling the driver or drivers reboot your computer windows will auto reinstall any needed drivers.I hope this has helped good luck.

Since you didn't state what operating system you are using, I'm going to choose Windows XP for an example. The O/S the computer came with, (Home or Pro, it's the same for the Audio { Sound} drivers)

No sound

Here are the tips to fix no sound problem:

1. Double-click the sound icon in the lower-right corner of the desktop. This loads the audio options menu onto the screen. Make sure none of the audio options are set to "Mute." If they are, uncheck the options, and the sound returns.
.
2. Disconnect any headphones you have connected to the "Line-out" port on the Acer laptop. If headphones or anything else is connected to the line-out, the audio is not going to be produced by the computer's built-in speakers.

3. Connect your computer to a local power source. If the battery is running low, the laptop often stops producing audio as a method to extend the battery life.

4. Download updated drivers for the Acer computer. If the sound drivers are out of date, the audio is not going to project from the speakers properly. Navigate to the Acer website, choose your country of origin, then click "Service and Support." Click "Driver Download" in the left corner of the screen and click the kind of computer you have. Choose the exact make and model of your computer and all of the available drivers are displayed. Click the audio driver and it downloads to your computer. Double-click the downloaded file, then follow the prompts to install the updated driver. Restart the computer and the audio now plays correctly on the system.

Cannot get any sound out of system in device manger it tells me the audio device is working properly. help appreciated. computer is hp pavilion a730n Lyle

Lyle,
You need to download the audio driver, and install it.
Just had to do this with my Gateway after a Restoration.

This is HP Support, and the main support page for the Pavilion a730n desktop computer,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=431078&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=5&submit.x=1&lang=en&cc=us

On this page left-click on the heading -
Software and Driver Downloads. (Ampersand for and)

On this page choose your Operating System.
I chose Windows XP for an example.

(Left-click on the blue down arrow to the left of the box, that has Select in it. Then left-click on the Operating System your computer is using. Now left-click on Next)

Left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Driver - Audio (1)
Now left-click right on the file name -
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Update

Left-click on Download.
(In blue rectangular box with two right arrows)

Instructions from HP Support for downloading, and installing:

Installation Instructions1. Download the driver update.
2. Double-click the icon for the update file downloaded in Step 1, and then click NEXT.
3. Accept the terms in the HP license agreement, and then click NEXT.
4. Click YES and wait for the update to complete.
5. Click YES to restart your PC.

Once you have restarted your computer, and Windows has full loaded, you should get a pop-up out of your system tray.
Your audio (Sound) should be back now.

If this doesn't work the only alternate suggestion I may offer, is to but an inexpensive sound card, and install it.

(Computer unplugged from power, follow Anti-Static Precautions.
Don't forget to install the CD disk from the sound card FIRST, then install the sound card)

If you have additional questions regarding this, please post in a Comment.

Regards,
joecoolvette.

(Would like to hear from you so that I know you read my solution, thanks)

For the first problem open your multimedia properties box under the audio tab you will have a sound recording device specified, check whether you have your device listed, usually you have your say ( Realtek HD Audio input or the respective company input device who supplied your audio drivers). If its not listed ten you might be having problem with the drivers or hardware you will have to call the service engineer to have to problem solved.

Some basic questions first: -Are you using the built-in sound card and are your speakers plugged into the green socket? -Did you plug your speakers into another computer to see if they work, if you didn?t how did you test them? -Have you checked the Sounds and audio devices in the control panel? Go to Start, Control Panel, and open Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure the volume is up and the mute box IS NOT checked. If you?re using Windows XP Click on the Speaker Volume button and make sure the left and right speaker volumes are up. -What program are you trying to use to test the sound volume? Let us know if this solves your problem or if you need some more assistance.
