Question about Creative Labs Zen MicroPhoto MP3 Player

Dropped MicroPhoto, now no sound

Hi,

my wife has a Zen Microphoto. She's had it for a couple of years and has been happy with it, but unfortunately today she dropped it on a hard surface. Everything seems to work inside it (menus ok, songs play, pictures ok), but there's no sound coming out of it. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could try to do to fix it before I open it (and possibly cause more damage...) ? I figure it might be something simple like the wiring to the sound jack, or it might be something to do with the internal electronics. I'm guessing it's more likely a wiring problem, since the device seems to function ok otherwise.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Mike.

Creative Zen MicroPhoto 8GB, in recovery mode, the device is not connected

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
