The power supply is overheating. Several components are failing. You should look at auction site for parts.

Power light once, then power and OPC twice simultaneously. what would that be?

Hey Vince, not sure of your model, but this may help. Last year, my older Sony started acting up. I would hit the power button and the red light would flash, fan would come on, no picture and then would power down. I bought a replacement bulb from Amazon and that solved it! Still using it today! Hope this helps! http://www.amazon.com/KDF-42WE655-KDF-50WE655-KDF-60XBR950-KDF-70XBR950-KDF-60X8R950/dp/B003ISY34U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386773313&sr=8-2&keywords=Sony+replacement+bulb&tag=donations09-20

Problem with KDF-70XBR950 TV. The TV won't come on. The power light blinks green for a few seconds than it blinks red for a while until it turns solid red.

How many time it blinks will tell you what the error is. This site will provide you with the service manual and on page eight of it will give you the list of blinks vs problems.

It overheats and pops the Xl-2100u lamp?

by pops? do you mean it explode? how many lamps? it could be the fan that supposed to be ventilating the lamp or it could be the the ballast, why the ballast because the ballast regulates the voltage in order the keep the lamp on, for ignition it sends around 15,000 volts after that it regulates the votage to a small amount of voltage around 5,000 so it could be sending the big amount of voltage all the time never regulates that or it could be regulating and then sending another big amount of voltage over and over until the lamp doesnt handle those changes.

Replaing the lamp will fix this problem most of the time.If not count the blinks. This is an error code.

Sony KDF-50E2000 shuts down and blinks repeatedly twice.

The 2 blink error is a temperature error and the 6 blink error is a thermal fuse error. You may need to unplug the set and get you a can of canned air, take off the back lower cover and blow out all of the fans inside the set.

Where can I find a replacement cooling fan? Cooling fan is very loud from the time the set is turned on until a few mins. after it is shut off. Are they hard to replace?

The best replacement is a good flowing computer fan....new or used.
The "used" can be had for almost nothing and they last longer than the factory TV fan.......check computer repair shops, they will have a large pile of good used fans of all sizes.

You need a new projection lamp.......(XL-2100 replacement DLP lamp)..... go to this web site to get the lamp you need for your TV model KDF-70XBR950 70inch----
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11040980
------ This web site shows you how to install it yourself. ----
http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/sony/XL-2100U.php    --------- I strongly suggest that you get a SONY manufactured replacement lamp NOT a cheaper lamp from another manufacturer... it costs about $200.
