Hi again,

For your posted gaming requirement, the Gateway M-1625 looks like more than sufficient. I am of the opinion that the advantages of DDR3 over DDR2 would not be significant with the games you have in mind. Additionally, Dual Core 2GHz AMD, 256MB memory on the ATI RADEON X1270 and 2Gb memory would of course make most current games happy. However, as stated in your other post, my concern is the the Vista OS which has been known to have so much memory issues which may affect the gaming performance of the machine. Perhaps a way to circumvent this is to upgrade to 4Gb memory. I would not suggest downgrading to XP due to unavailability of compatible drivers.

I think my motherboard is cook

I would advice you to go to J&R studio or go to computer show that would be taken place somewhere in New Jersey. I'm not totally sure of when the show is going to take place, but I think it's this coming weekend. For further verifications, you could go to computershow.com

With a fully recharged battery my computer battery only last a few minutes. Should I buy a new battery?

Seems like the battery is just old and leeking power. I suggest you take it to a computer shop nearby, ask them if anything can be done about it, and buy a new one if they can't fix it. I hope this helps, Yannick.

Acer 3050 battery doesn't charge and causes CPU to run at 90%

I contacted Acer about the problem and their solution was to buy a new battery since the computer was not longer under warranty and they really didn't know what was going on! In talking with friends, and checking on-line, the consensus is that laptop batteries don't last more than two years. You can keep them charged, let them run down, recharge them frequently: they still will only last about two years.
I just find it hard to believe that Acer has never heard of this problem, especially when I'm reading similar posts on this site.

Anyway, as deviant00 suggested, I got a new battery on Amazon.com for $56. They offered $30 off if I signed up for their credit card. The final cost was $26. The battery came today and the computer works like a charm. I also followed jell587's advice and scanned the computer with the Malware he suggested:no viruses.

The solution for me was buy another battery; expect it to last for a couple of years.

Thanks for all the help.

Presario V5000 -- Junk from BEST BUY

Well Colleen, I thank you for writing this as detailed as possible, You can always run a disk cleanup, (Start > My computer > Right click C: > Properties > Disk Cleanup, Under General Tab)

That will get rid of junk, Or you could Defrag the computer
(Start>My computer> Rightclick C: > Properties > Tools Tab > Defragment now)
Defrag will take all sorts of junk in a file and sort them in a folder, giving your computer more memory, You could also manually delete everything by going to the root of it all, Or you could buy more memory.
