  • 2 Display the webpage to be copied, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the Internet Explorer screen.
  • 3 Click "Select All" to highlight the entire contents of the webpage, then click the right-hand mouse button and select "Copy" from the drop-down menu. This copies the entire webpage to a temporary memory clipboard.

Hyperlink as the name suggests, is a connection that links two files or objects with respect to their location.
if the location changes then the link is cut, so it wont function.
if u have moved doc from one pc to another then it's more obvious that the link has broken due to the loaction, though the folder or file which is located in some specific direcotry remains as it is, but it has changed it's properties of address.
    e.g.
a telephone located in your house has a specific number, now if you either change your tel number or change your house then obvioulsy the link is cut so no one can dial in and talk to u.

Where were you saving the old Excel files to: c:\my documents for example. Is your new Excel saving or retrieving documents from the same location? If not, it will look like the old files are gone, when Excel is simply looking in the wrong place.

An installation won't wipe out data files--they're in two different locations. If you do a global wildcard search (*.xls) you will probably find them.
