Replacement of a picture tube in a itc222 chasis is one of my least favorote things to do here at the shop. average cost for a tube is around 250... replaceing the tube takes some time and the set has to be completely disasmbled. then reassemble and adjusted. i believe union electronics offer these tubes. you have to get the tube type of the tube itself there are several tube +lens combinations that have to be considered. willie at fordtv.com

My picture was prodominately green/red. I took the back of the TV off and looked into the bulbs. I could see a picture in the red and green, but in the blue it was barely there. Blue light was there, but...

1.) It means the Glycol in the blue tube is bad--usually contaminated by bacteria--each of the 3 picture tubes has a sealed area between the face of the tube and the lens above.

2.) If you see a picture in Green and RED but blue looks like a floodlight--the blue tube would have to be removed, drained, and the area with the Glycol washed out---new glycol added and the tube resealed and installed back into the set.

3.) This is a fairly major repair--the Glycol is very toxic---like antifreeze but much more concentrated---unless you have done it before I would not suggest it as a do it yourself job.

4.) The bacteria never affects the RED(it does not seem to like that color) and only sometimes the Green.

5.) It may not be worth repairing as most shops charge 200-300 or more for this kind of repair---not to mention that after it is done quite a lot of adjustment to the convergence will be needed from removing and reinstalling the tube.

6.) I know I am not giving you good news but you actually found your problem yourself! If you need any advice or help reply to this post and I will try to assist you.

Tv not working

Bulb may be bad or the lamp housing is damaged from heat. The plastic housing warps causing the micro switch that tells the tv the bulb is in goes out of alignment and the tv thinks the bulb has been removed

Only red tube shows picture, but green & blue are on, just no pic

More likely the problem is the blue and green fluid in the tubes is so cloudy that its distorting the image. Get a fluid kit from www.tvrepairkits.com

Toshiba 57" HDTV no red in picture

I had the 65" version of that TV. Loved it, unfortunately it went bad as well. It sounds like the red tube went bad. The tube itself might sell for $400 plus. The installation will take several hours with the alignments which will need to be done. Then after all that you will start to have to worry about the other tubes starting to deteriorate. If there is any red in the picture then the tube is most likely the problem. At tat point I would say buy a new TV. The best bang for the buck if you want size and have the space for it would be the new Samsung or Mitsubishi DLP's. I just installed one at customers house. The 60" Mitsubishi is 1400 at Best Buy Good Luck Rob

No picture coming from red lamp

Sounds like you have two differant problems. A red drive or red picture tube is bad and the conbvergence IC's are bad. To test the red drive disconnect the green picture tube socket BUT MAKE SURE THE SET IS UNPLUGGED!!Then remove the red socket and move over to the green tube. Then turn on the set. If you get the same out of the green then you have a drive problem that needs to be trouble shot for a bad componet. If you do get a picture with the red connected to the green then the red tube is shot. If you know how to read a schematic, get one and then you should have no problem troubleshooting the red drive and the convergence problem. If you dont then there is no easy or quick fix as this is a solid state set and there are no user replaceable parts inside this.,. Your going to need, for safetys sake, call in a trained tech to assist you with this repair

Picture is yellow and green

Your missing the red drive on the set. Its most likly the picture tube. Its a possibility that the red drive circuit could be not working so the best thing to do is take off the gree picture tube socket and put the green board on the red tube. Of course do all this when the set is unplugged. if you have no tv experience. its not a good idea to be messing around inside of these sets.
