Won't turn on. (by 2 users)

posted by britepath on May 12, 2008

Hello, I was working on my machine, when it just shut down, I could not move my mouse, and just a box was on my monitor saying something about power being shut down, so I turned it off, and now it will not turn back on. I took off the back and checked and cleaned it out, wow, what a mess, anyway, I hooked it all back and still nothing, I have been having trouble with the big fan coming on a lot before this happened, when I ran my card games, or whenever a program would start up. It had happened earlier in the day with my granddaughter, and I just shut it off and it came right back on, but that night, I was playing a mean game of pinucile when it was just gone. Can you tell me what happened? Please.

I did all that and still nothing, I was on the computer when it shut down, however earlier that day it did the same thing so I shut it off and it came right back on, but the big fans were running all the time. Then I was playing a game and it shut down again, this time I can not get it to turn back on. I have cleaned it out, (boy was it a mess.) I checked all the fans and they are turning free, I pushed all the wires to make sure they were all connected. etc.. I am thinking it is a power supply problem, or could it be my Help
I have the same problem.

This sounds like the CPU is overheating. Have you opened up the box and cleaned it out with canned air (or a vacuum in reverse to blow air works as well)?
