Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera

Newton's Rings Hi jackboy, Hope you have an answer! Camera has taken excellent pictures for about 2 years until yesterday. There are Newton's Rings in every picture. What is causing this? How do I fix this? Is this a common problem with this camera?

Yes, I have the same problem, and in looking back at some of my pictures from a year or two ago, it seems I had the problem then.

Do I take this back to the dealer who sold it to me, or send it back to Sony?

Make sure the lens is clean.
A cracked or damaged lens can cause this problem.

You just got the camera? You do realize this camera was manufactured in 2005? Anyway, this model does not have "live view" so you cannot see the image as you can on a point-and-shoot camera.

How do i turn on the auto timer?

Hi, Follow these steps:
1. In any Still mode, tap Settings to open the Settings panel.
2. Tap Self-Timer/Burst repeatedly, until the desired Self-timer icon appears at the bottom of the LCD: 10 seconds—A picture is taken after a 10-second delay (so you have time to get into the scene). 2 seconds—A picture is taken after a 2-second delay (for a steady, auto-shutter release on a tripod). 2 shot—The first picture is taken after a 10-second delay. A second picture is taken 8 seconds later.
3. Compose the scene. Press the Shutter button halfway, then completely down. The camera takes the picture/pictures

I tried to delete a picture that was not clear and mistakenly deleted all the pictures I had just taken 2 hours previously. Is there any way I can retrieve the deleted pictures?

Yes. You'll need to find and install SD recovery software onto your computer. There are many versions and some are free, but I've always used EasyRecovery Pro which is excellent but definitely not cheap and has some powerful features missing in other programs. It's no good if you have any cameras using xD cards though but will recover data even if the card has been erased, reformatted or even corrupted. If you're in the UK/Europe then I'd be happy for you to post the card to me for data recovery and would return it with your data on a CD/DVD for free. All you pay is the postage and packing. Let me know if you're interested and I'll let you know how to contact me.

Do not use the card to take any photos with until then as you may end up over-writing the data you wish to recover.

I hope that you've found my answer to be of use and ask in return only that you rate my answer.

Press the shutter button, the self-timer lamp flashes, and a beep sounds until the shutter operates.

Powershot A540 flash does not work

Hi. I had the same problem. I called Canon and they told me to reset the camera, and it worked. The camera is back to normal. To reset, hit the "menu" button and then scroll over to the tab with the tools icon. Scroll down until you see "Reset All". Hit "set" then highlight OK and hit "set" again. It will say "busy" if it was reset correctly. I had to do it twice for it to work, but it seems to be working fine now. Hope that helps.

hi there
a possible solution..
adobe picture shop can get stroppy with some cameras for no reason.
try copying your pictures from the camera to a folder on your p.c. first.
try inserting one of them into a blank word doc. if it goes in you know its not the picture.
then try opening a picture from that folder with adobe and see if that works.

hope that helps
