I don't know the particular model, but I can give some generic type suggestions.

Look in the user book to see if there are any resets. If you can see the menu on the screen, check the default video output. It may be set in a format that is not compatable for your TV set. I have seen that from time to time.

I am assuming you checked all the interconnect cables and that there are none that are defective. You also checked that the input on the TV you are using is working properly.

What cables go from my 55 inch hitachi tv to connect on the back of the dvd player . I have two monster cables red and blue together and three cables red blue and green together.

I have never herd of a red and blue combo but, The three, red, blue, and green are "component" cables. Hopefully your DVD player has a red, blue, adn green component out, not to be confused with red composite out. Composite cables are yellow, red and white, and, your tv has componenet in. The component cable will give you the best video quality. When installing make sure they are inserted all the way but twisting and wiggling or you will have a bluish, grenish, etc. picture. The composite cables give you the video only, so you will have to provide the audio. Audio can be achived using composite red and white or digital optical. If you second monster cable is red and white you can probably use those To go from "audio" red and white out on DVD to audio in red and white on tv. You must use the same audio input that corresponds to you video input.

Connecting the dvd player via a scart cable

If you select component in on the tv, this should give you a picture, using the current set up. As for audio, depending on the tv, have you used audio in on the tv, or audio out?
It sound obvious but I (even after 5 years+ of installing tv/vcr/dvd) still get caught out with input and out put.
I am unfamiliar with Sansui dvd, if it has a scart connection on the back then yes you can connect to a spare scart on the tv. If it has the single yellow phono for video and the red/white phonos for sound, you can buy a scart to phono lead and use that, not to confuse with the component(blue/green/purple) connections. You cuold also connect the yellow/red/white phono to the same on the tv front/side or rear if available.

Dvd player to tv

To just connect to watch movies, an HDMI cable would be the easiest and give the best picture, otherwise you can use just regular AVI cables (Yellow, red, white) and connect them to OUT on the DVD and on the TV you connect to an avilable INPUT or IN, Its not difficult, but the HDMI is the way to go if you have HDTV.
Pleas give me a good rating if this helps solve your problem. Thanks

No picture, but can hear sound

hold down the stop button for 5 sec on your dvd player not the one on the remote control

Check your connections. Make sure they are hooked up correctly(ie yellow to yellow. Check both the connectoins on the dvd player and the tv.

Hookup

very simple , just made sure dvd output hooked to the input of your tvs and same color ,jack to jack, you know, yellow to yellow, red to red ,white to white. But I suggest you use a s-video jack(all black). instead of the yellow composite ,or RCA jack, which give you a better picture, and if you have a the component jacks (red, blue , green)on both machine , that will give you the best picture, but remember , you still have to connect the red(right channel,+))and white(left channel,-)cable to have sound coming out from your tv.You will need a s-video cable or component cables for those option I suggested.

If you are useing RCA connecter change to a coax connection. In otherwords change to another connection type. The combo dvd/vcr units are not built very well.
