Question about Horizontal Engine 6 Hp Ohc Gc190mha2

2 Answers

My power washer with Honda engine 6HP GC 190 only runs with the choke in the close position, as soon as the choke is pushed back into the open position the engine dies. Any suggestions in how to fix it to run normal so I can get the full power of the engine. Thanks

I had the same problem. Took carb totally apart, soaked it in paint thinner, blew it dry, reassembled. Sovled the problem. I suspect it was the brass tube that runs up the center of the carb. Remove this feeder tube with a piece of picture hanging wire. This is she simplest carb I have ever worked on.

SOURCE: Honda gx160 will only run on full choke

Are the filters all clean and free of junk? If the answer is yes, then the carburetor is not working correctly. It may have a block inside the carburetor, or the valve in the carburetor is not opening / closing correctly. Use WD40 or similar to clean the carburetor out, but let it dry before starting it, as it will emit a flame out of the carburetor if started whilst wet. You can also use carburetor cleaner.

How do you replace the honda gc190 decompression mechanism

This is a problem with GC-160 and GC-190 engines on pressure washers, tillers, etc. Once they get some hours on them and as things seat in-wear in, they get to a point you can not pull the start cord. If you remove the spark plug, the engine turns easily. The valves need adjusted. The valves are set .005" to .006" off the seat. This allows enough compression release but the engine runs. I find the valves need adjusted every 25 hours, not the 100 hours Honda states.

Honda hra 215 sxc mower- choke lever will not go far enough to get engine started - must be pushed manually - how to fix?

There should be a hex head screw holding the choke cable in place. Loosen the screw a little an move the choke all the way closed and pull lever on choke to the closed choke position and tighten the screw back. Just make sure it is not pulled so tight that the choke will not open back up. Hope this helps you.

Power washer runs for about 10 seconds then cuts off

It sounds like your choke is turned all the way to "close". Find the choke and open it up about 1/2 way. This way, the corroborator can **** in some air as the engine RPM comes up to normal. If it will not crank with the choke as described above, then put it back like it was, crank it, and immediately push the choke handle over to about 1/2. As the engine warms, you can push it all the to "open" position (opposite of where it is now if my theory is correct).

Good luck, and if this helpful please take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

How to start the generator

Hi Joe, I had asked for a little clarification and have not received any information. I will answer this question based on the generator is in good working order and it is a recoil start. Open the petcock, (this is the fuel valve) and give it about a minute to fill the fuel bowl on the carburetor. If your generator has an engine an on/off kill switch, set to on. If the generator has an auto idle switch set it to off. If the engine has a throttle lever located under the carburetor, push it all the way down (full throttle). Pull the choke knob out completely, there is a detent on the choke for half choke, pull it past this for full choke. pull the recoil starter rapidly. As soon as the engine starts running push the choke knob to half choke, this will allow the engine to run smooth while it's warming up. Depending on the climate that you are in, warm up time will vary. After a minute or two in cold climates start pushing the choke knob in, if it starts to run poorly pull it back out too the half position and let it warm up some more. When you can posh the choke in without the engine faltering it is ready to go. In warmer climates you might be able to start the engine without the choke or in the halfway position. Robin Subaru makes some of the finest small engines available. I would choose a Robin over a Honda every time. I hope this gets your generator going, and once again this is based on the generator being in good working order. Good luck, Michael Burke.

New honda hrr auto choke hard to start

sounds like it may need the carb clening out, but it could be the auto choke not closing when cold. there was an issue with some of the early auto chokes on the gcv135/160 engines so check to see if the choke flap is in the closed position when starting from cold, run the engine for approx 10-15 minutes and see if the choke flap has opened fully.leave it to go cold and see if the choke flap has returned to the closed position
