Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have an infocus X1A projector (old) and a Macbook pro with OS X v 10.5.8. Both are on and I got the firewire VGA adapter. When I plug the projector into the laptop it doesn't recognize the projector at all. The projector works on other PC laptops and the Macbook pro recognizes all other fire and usb sources. please help. this is for a charity event.

SOURCE: Unsupported Signal. Adjust your PC output

Boot into safe mode or VGA mode and reduce the resolution to 800 by 600 and set the refresh rate to 60. After this, reboot normally and check the box to have your video to display only the settings that work for your system, and choose the desired resolution, and refresh should be 70-85 to reduce flicker. Appears as tho your video card is set too hot for the monitor.
MORE: In safe mode or vga mode you may not be able to adjust the settings. Fine. After a reboot, you may be able to start normally and the vga settings might still be there (640x480). Then you can adjust them.

SOURCE: macbook recognizes dell projector, but not vice versa

Hello,
Your Macbook should automaticaly find the best resolution, if everything was OK. Is there any HDMI input on the dell projector? What projector is it? Is there is an HDMI input, you can use a HDMI to mini DVI cable: better picture and sound than VGA, and will probably solve your problem

SOURCE: Macbook not recognizing camcorder

I had this problem when first plugging in my Canon zr80 to my Mac. What I did first was (if you have it) open up the program Imovie in you're applications menu. Then plug the firewire cable into both the camera and computer. Turn the camcorder on and set it to play(VCR). Once this happens you should see a "DV in" on the camcorders screen, followed by a blue window on you're computer. The rest should be easy.

What might be the problem since my macbook pro is connected to the projector through a HDMI to VGA adapter, yet the screen remains black?

Vga and hdmi are different formats. Unless you are using a coverter box that translates the data from one format to another it won't work. Vga is analog and hdmi is digital

How can i connect the macbook pro into an lcd projector, which adapter should i use....?

what are your options on the projector side?
Your Mac comes with a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) port.
Attach the DVI to VGA adapter to the VGA connector of the external monitor.

depending on the external monitor/projector, you may need different adapters.

You may need a certain connection (MiniDisplay Port to DVI, or MiniDisplay Port to VGA). If you're connecting to an HDMI-compatible projector, you'll need an adapter. You'll also need an adapter if connecting your MDP (MiniDisplay Port) to a DVI or VGA port. Here are some helpful links:

#2 MDP to HDMI Adapter (RadioShack)
#3 MDP to VGA Adapter (Apple Store)
#4 MDP to DVI Adapter (Apple Store)

Is these a driver to get USB connection to macbook

Are you asking if there is an adapter? There actually is an adapter (USB to S-Video) that will work between the two. However, with my MacBook C2D 2.4 GHZ, I use mini DVI to VGA adapter. This allows instant laptop to projector picture and sound. You can use it for anything from powerpoint to movies or even as a giant monitor. The mini-DVI to VGA adapter can be purchased at Best Buy for less than $20. Look for it in the accessory aisle near the Apple machines. IMO, this is a priceless addition to your MacBook. I hope this helps! Please remember to vote if it does.

Infocus X1a no picture, solid green LED

if the lamp is new, it could be the power supply (the ballast is built in to the ps). but make sure you have the right lamp. the X1 and X1a have an sp-lamp-019 and the similar X2 and X3 have an sp-lamp-018. the lamps are almost identical except for the wire configuration on the lamp plug. make sure the wires in the plug match the positions in the socket. also, when you turn it on, if you don't hear a high pitch squeal, the colorwheel is not working. and if that isn't working, the lamp won't either. also check to see if the lamp door is closing properly and hitting the switch at the top of the opening.

Infocus x1a shuts down after 5 minutes

3 red flashing is a lamp error, not the fans. the lamp has a problem striking. make sure it's pushed in and plugged in all the way. if the lamp is not that old, the power supply needs replacing.
