Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

@aol.comI have had my Bonaire widow cooler for three years and replaced the float valve this year with a 1/4 one I bought a Lowe's last June. It worked fine but now when I shut it off it over flows through the overflow in the bottom of the unit. I tried adjusting the valve by bending it till it's about 3/4 of an inch from the top of the overflow like I was told but when I shut it off it keeps overflowing. I know it must be the float valve. Do I just replace it?

Yes you need to replace it. You can't service the new valves.

HH error code? on magic chef mcbc580dbt

I, too, have just seen (late June 2013) the "HH" code on my Magic Chef wine cooler (and it is running too cold and I can't reset the temperature). Have you found a solution since your posting of about 1 year ago?

Electrical problems

Are these factory OEM replacements? I once put three cheap aftermarket Kragen batteries in my Corvette in 6 months, bought a Delco and problem solved, that was years ago. Sounds like your problem is that the car sits to much, if it sits more a few weeks either hook up a float battery charger or disconnect the negative cable to the batt.

Hi davefrag1057, has it sit all year with fuel in it? Sounds like the high speed jet is blocked. Or the float is stuck in off position not allowing fuel to flow into carbuerator bowl. Or you may have water or other debri in bowl. I would start by removing the carbuerator bowl, clean it( and watch what comes out of it). I use a clean pan to drain it into so I can see water or other contaminates. Before replacing the bowl check float operation, with the float hanging down and the gas on fuel should be flowing, lift the float to level and flow should stop. Now while the bowl is off lets deal with blocked jet. If you have compressed air blow through it.(its right up through the middle of the float.) Without air remove the jet and run a small wire through it. This should get ya going. Happy New Year! (don't recommend using ether).

We have a Vulcan Bonaire evaporative cooling unit and all is working well but water constantly leaks...wasteful. second last bloke I got to have a look at it didn't want to go on the roof...the last one...

could be the float valve is stuck or has some object blocking it so it cant cut off the water flow..( adjusting the float hight, or cleaning will solve this) or could be the plastic inserts that carry the pads are cracked & allowing water to escape the unit.( replace the pad carrier)..

If your going up on the roof to fix it... you may as well get a onedose cartridge from the hardware shop & put that in the tank whilest your up there...

Carb help

I'm new to the site and new to carbs. I bought a bike last week that had been sitting in a barn for a couple years the engine hadn't been running in over a year. I was able to get it running the first day after cleaning out the field mouse home occupying the air filter chamber and swapping the old gas for new gas. The bike ran and idled fine but the left carb (dual carb setup Keihin) poured gas from the tube coming out the bottom. I did some research and found out the floats may be stuck. I went ahead and ordered new floats and float bowl gaskets. I took the carbs apart apart as much as I could, using Berryman parts cleaner to soak all the metal parts I could get off. I put everything back together and put the new floats in yesterday. I started the engine and not only is the gas is still pouring out the bottom of the left carb, but now the bike is idleing very fast. The idle adjustment is backed out completely. When putting the carbs back together, I screwed all the jets back in all the way. I screwed in the Pilot Air screw, the one with the spring, all the way in, then backed it out 1 1/2 turns. Not sure if this has anything to do with the idle. As far as the floats go, does it sound like I need to replace the float valves too? ,The seats on the jets, or the o-rings on the needle valves that the floats control are probably leaking.,,,
