Subllimegreen. Thank you. I am unaware that the floor scrubbers with the circular brushes (Floormate H3000) even have a belt. The sound is a really awful scrunching sound, more like a moter or impeller sound as opposed to a screeching belt. I found that if I tilt the machine forward a bit when turning it on there's no noise and it runs fine. I should also mention that all of the other machine functions are working. I will not be able to get back to it until this evening. I'm sorry if I was not detailed enough in my original post. ns

We also have the grinding motor issue. I took the housing off and found small pieces of a scalloped plastic "washer/o-ring" components around the motor. This unit is 3.5 years old and is used 2-3X per week. Is it time to say good bye or is it serviceable?

Sounds as if there is something stuck in the vacuum causing the beater bar to stop turning while the belt continues to turn giving off the burning smell.

Vacuum turned off started smelling and got hot but only for 2 to 3 minutes then turned off

Hi There, 2 to 3 minutes is too short for a blockage in my opinion. I would suggest you have a burnt out motor. Did it make any kind of uneven sound or popping sound? If yes then you will need to replace the motor. There are a couple of good videos on youtube to help you out if you are suitably qualified or skilled. This is a pretty tricky repair though I would give it a 7/10 for difficulty.

Burning smell loud grinding noise when tilted

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. The rattle is the clutch engaging. It can happen for a couple of reasons. The best case for you is if there is something caught in the brush roller that you can simply remove. The next best is that the end caps of the brush are full of junk that you will be able to remove. Its not easy getting the brush out to clean there but it can be done.
If the brush spins in your hand easily when the brush is removed then it is the clutch itself. THe main roller often melts which is caused when the tension on the belt gets to high thus creating too much heat. THis can be resolved only with a new clutch.
Hope this helps, if you have more questions dont hesitate to reply or if you need parts just visit

Makes a loud noise like a grinding noise then smokes comes out and it smells like burning rubber? When I take the (rod) brush off with the belt then run the vacuum there is no more noise? Please help me...

Your belt is worn and stretched and so it is slipping on the motor drive shaft. That is why it is noisy and smells like burning rubber. You simply need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts here:

When I turned on the vacuum it started to smell

the vacuum is either shorting or the motor or brush assembly is rubbing something.

My hoover dual v steamvac make loud noise and sparks

Be careful. This could be a shorted wire inside where the motor is. If there is sparks , something is exposed and touching. The motor also may be ready to give out. Unless your daring enough to open the whole thing up I would bring it to a shop or replace it.

Motor is getting loud and smells like is burning
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I am not sure what type of vacuum, make or model # it is but if your motor is getting loud and it smells like it is burning, it could be 2 things, either you have a broken fan blade or your motor is on it’s last legs and is burning up and would be in need of a new fan and motor replacement. Please feel free t contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
Thanks, Don the Vac Man

Did you check the brush roll when you changed the belt? The smell of rubber would inducate a belt slipping. So if the brush roll (part #61308-2)isn't turning, the belt would get hot and would be slipping. If the motor sounds real loud, then you could have a bad motor(part #60775-4).

Burning smell and smoke

When you turn it on....is the belt turning the brushes? Something may be caught causing the brushes to stick and the belt to just grind the brush assembly.
