Re: ZUNE 30GB Zune Music... Problem
There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer
itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up
erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as
new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override
the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be
reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware
upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites. WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or
FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right
click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to
Windows-based computers. You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself: Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media
Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath
the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking
on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of
Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select
"Format." - this should erase everything. -Tha Mp3 Doctor

How to restore your Zune device software:------------ When you restore your Zune device software, the startup partition and the data partition are removed and rebuilt. In addition to removing the Zune device software, this process also erases all audio, videos, podcasts, and pictures that are stored on the Zune device. Warning To restore the Zune device software, you must have a Windows-based computer that has an Internet connection. That computer must have the Zune software installed. And you must be able to connect the Zune device to a USB port on that computer by using a Zune Sync Cable. Do not perform the following steps if you do not have any one or more of these things immediately available.
After you start to restore the Zune device software, you cannot again use the device until you complete all the steps. You will not receive any confirmation or warning on the Zune device after you start the following procedure.
To restore the Zune device software, follow these steps: 1. Set the Hold Switch to unlocked. 2. Press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press and hold the top of the Zune Pad. When the Zune device begins to power up, release the buttons. 3. Immediately after you release the buttons in step 2, press and hold the following special button combination, depending on your Zune model:• If you have the 4GB Zune, the 8GB Zune, or the 80GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune Pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen. • If you have the 30GB Zune, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time as you press both the left side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until your Zune device restarts and "Please wait" appears on the screen.
Note "Clearing contents. Please wait" appears, followed by “Connect Zune to your PC."
4. After “Connect Zune to your PC” appears, connect the Zune device to the computer that has the current Zune software installed, and then update the device to the current Zune device software. -----------Click this link directly for more troubleshooting:--http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944909

Importing Content to Zune Software Zune software provides several options to import content. By default, Zune software automatically imports content that is downloaded to the following folders:
Zune software monitors these folders for the current user as well as the folders designated for All Users. When content is downloaded to any of these folders, it is automatically imported to the Zune media library. Zune users can also add a new folder to the list of folders that Zune software monitors, or they can manually drag and drop content from any folder to the Zune media library.
If you have not erased the MP3 files on the Zune, you should still have them on the Zune and can play these MP3 music files.
When you plug your Zune into the computer can you see the MP3 files on the Zune as an external drive on the computer?
If so you can copy the MP3 files back into your computer.
You may have to attempt a Hard Reset if this issue is persistant.
This will erase everything on your device, as a warning please be certian you have backup copies or this is a last resort.
Here is the original post:
WARNING: A hard reset will delete everything on your Zune.
Press and hold the back button
Press and hold up until it reboots
Depending on which Zune you have, immediately do one of the following:
If you have a Zune 4 GB, Zune 8BG, or Zune 80GB, immediately press
and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press the right
side of the Zune pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these
buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following
message: “Clearing contents. Please wait.”
If you have a Zune 30GB, immediately press and hold the Back button
Back at the same time that you press the right side of the Zune pad and
the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until the
Zune device restarts and you receive the following message: “Clearing
contents. Please wait.”
Try these ideas first, except calling for service since it's out of the warranty: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931912. If this doesn't work then, you'll have to erase all the content on your Zune through the buttons on it and use the Zune software to restore the firmware and getting it to boot again. If this doesn't work, then the hard drive may be bad in the Zune and will need to be replaced. If the hard drive is bad, you'll usually hear a lot of repetitive clicking. I hope this helps.
As a last resort or if you are receiving error code C00D2772, erase the
device, and then sync your content again. To do this, follow these
Start the Zune software on the computer.
Connect your Zune device by using the Zune Sync Cable.
Click Settings, and then click device.
Click SYNC OPTIONS, and then click ERASE ALL CONTENT.
When you receive the following message, click Yes:
Please Confirm. Are you sure you want to erase the contents of the connected Zune?
You receive the "Erase All Content" message. This may take several
minutes. Do not move or disconnect the Zune device until the message
