Question about Acer Aspire One AOA150-1570 Notebook PC
If your Aspire One will not start and you get a black screen, IT IS NOT DEAD, hopefully! It has a problem booting.
Here is the procedure posted some time ago by a guy call Macles. His blog page seems to have 'disappeared'. I have revived my AOA150/ZG5 a number of times using this procedure.
Although the Aspire One is a bit old now I am posting this here in the hope someone with this problem will find it and fix their Aspire One. You need to read the instructions carefully.
Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery
The Acer Aspire One has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, which can boot into a minimal BIOS environment via a special boot block to re-flash the BIOS, even if the system does not pass POST and does otherwise not boot anymore. This procedure is also known as Crisis Disk.
First format an USB flash drive with FAT. It does not need to be bootable.
Download the latest BIOS, and extract all files. Put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file with FD suffix in the root directory of the flash drive. The files must not be in a folder. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD before proceeding. It only works with this exact filename.
Turn the AA1 off, and verify both battery and AC adapter are plugged in.
Press Fn and Esc simultaneously, keep them pressed and press the power button. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds. The power button starts blinking at this point. Press it once. The AA1 will now access the files on the flash drive and initiate flashing the BIOS. After a while the power button stops blinking, and the AA1 reboots by itself. Wait patiently.
If it doesn't reboot, but keeps blinking, wait at least a few minutes before turning it off, and try again.
The bios is available here :-

For future viewers, as this is over a year-old issue and the original poster has probably already solved his/her problem. I'd like to point out that Acer Aspire One AOA150 used LED backlight and so it has no need for high voltage inverter. I'd personally suspect the screen to be faulty or the display cable having lost its connection, or if the device seems completely dead (no indicator LED activity, no hard disc sounds etc) that the BIOS needs reprogramming. Acer Aspire One ZG5's (including this model) are known to seem completely dead, but they are recoverable through a BIOS reprogramming procedure with a USB memory stick. This is well documented on various web sites and Youtube so I won't go into detail here.

Try attaching an external monitor to the laptop & see if you could get any display on it. If this is successful, then you might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

Tips for a great answer:
The Acer Aspire One is a miniature laptop that includes many of the same features larger laptops have. The Acer Aspire One is about the size of a diary and features an 8.9-inch LED LCD display, an 84-key keyboard, two built-in stereo speakers and Wi-Fi capability. Though smaller than most laptops, the Aspire One functions much like other computers. The Aspire One uses the Windows operating system, so it connects to a wireless network the same way that any other Windows computer does.
