Question about Samsung HLR5064W DLP Projection TV

2 Answers

I have a HL-r5064w. The volume is stuck. When ever we try to adjust any thing with the converter, volume, menu, anything the tv goes to standby, when you push the button again it comes back on. I tried to unplug it for a couple of minutes, didn't help. Any ideas?

more on this. I went out about 4 hours came back. the tv works properly for about 1 hour, then it shut off. bottom light showed red standby light only. when i turned it back on, again, the remote and the buttons on the case for volume or menu shut it off back to standby. what does a controller you spoke of cost?

I can help with your Samsung DLP problem.

You were on the right track with unplugging to reset. The TV stores more power in in than you might expect, so I'd go ahead and leave it unplugged for 10-15 minutes to properly dissipate it's charge and reset.

While it is unplugged, review the status of all buttons that may be interfering - all the buttons on remotes and especially the TV itself. A button stuck in the down position will compromise all the other buttons/controls. May special attention to any power and standby buttons.

If a hard reset and controls prove fruitless, I am afraid you are presented with a solid-state controller function failure in the TV, which will require service and board replacement.

I hope that helps.

Converter?? Probably you meant the remote. If the tv behaves the same when you use the buttons on the case then the control processor on the mainboard has failed, the entire board will gonna have to be replaced. This will be expensive so be prepared.
If the buttons on the case work normally then the remote is faulty - just throw it away and get a new one.

The one for your tv - around $240 for the part itself. It's replacement is a delicate job, you can do it yourself but it's better to be left to a pro who might found the cause of the failure and prevent it from happening again.

My plasma has lost volume, picture OK, turns on but not to standby and none of the buttons or remote changes anything?

First is to remove power from set and a box if used--the sound issue happened at same time? It sounds like the set locked up internally and if unplugging things does not help it may be a main board issue in the set.

I have an 17" (2 in1) n Tru Tech LCD TV (with built in DVD player) The volume can not be adjusted, whether I is the remote or volume control on the TV. It goes to#15 and stays at that volume. What Can I...

I assume "#15" is the displayed volume setting on the screen when you try to adjust the volume. Is this the maximum? If so, perhaps the front panel volume up button is stuck on (not the remote control; nothing else on it would work if that were the case).

Another likely cause is the TV's microcontroller chip or memory chip that goes with it has a fault in its volume control address location.

You can check for a stuck button by comparing its feel with the volume down button when you press it. If it is stuck, the difference in action will probably be noticeable. If you can't tell any difference, the set needs internal repair.

Check the converter box. Many have a volume setting that is usually set very low at the factory. On the remote control for the converter check to see if there are volume buttons. If so, change the converter box volume higher, to a level that makes the TV audio level "normal", then use the volume control on the TV for adjustment as you watch. If you set the volume on the converter box too high, you may get some distortion in the audio from your TV. So adjust the converter box to find the proper output from your TV without distortion.

Problem programming Zenith Digital TV Converter DTT901 remote.

Be sure that your TV is set to channel 3 or 4 if you are using the RF cable or Video 1, etc if using the Audio/Video cable.  The Installation  Guide should appear.  The "improved" picture that you are seeing is simply the analog throughput, not the digital conversion.

Menu Trouble

perhaps the volume down button on the TV is stuck. It could be either physically stuck, or the electronic logic could be messed up. Just to rule out a problem with the remote, take the batteries out of it and then adjust the volume at the TV and see what happens.

Tv ws-65511 volume stuck

Did you ever get this problem fixed? Ours just started doing the same thing. It worked fine the night before, but today it's doing what yours is doing. The remote stopped working for the TV. The remote still works for the cable box, but volume and anything related to TV function not. The screen flashes when we try to adjust volume or anything else, but resets to previous volume. TV not responding to any commands either on the front panel or remote.
Any ideas? Thanks, Patti
