For cardreader you don't really need a driver for it , that should be a plug in play when you connect it to your pc because it function like a flash disk that the OS can automatically installed driver for it.

By the way was this card reader working with vista? because if it never work there's a possibility the your card reader is not compatible with vista because some device are not compatible with it and there's no driver for vista even on sandisk web site.

No, you do not need any drivers if your operating system is Windows XP or above.

Just insert it in the card reader or in the digital camera and you are ready to go.

It says that the disc is not formatted and asks if I want to format it.

You can't use the card until its been formatted.

Formatting cleans all current data off the card.

If its a camera card, format it in the camera using the camera menu. Otherwise it still may not work.

Camera reads, computer doesn't

That is odd. Try the recovery software that comes with the sandisk cards and see if you are able to get them after that.
Do you format your cards each time in the camera before shooting?

Windows XP wont install USB card readers

Did not reinstall the needed drivers. Download drivers from manufacturer support and install them.

Maybe just maybe you can use device manager to install the drivers by searching the web for them. Only take a minute to make the attempt.

Computer won't open program to import

#1. Reboot the computer.
#2. is the light coming on the card reader when you insert the card? If not, the computer is not recognizing the card. Make sure the card reader is plugged into a working USB port and the card is inserted in the correct orientation. If the light is coming on, simply go to "My Computer" and select the drive letter associated with the card.
