Noisy frig My Amana, bottom freezer model, makes an intermittent noise that sounds like a weed-eater. It seems to work okay. I recently cleaned underneath and behind it. This helped for a couple of weeks only. Thanks for your help.

Amana ABB222DE is the overload/capacitor the same thing as the compressor relay? I just had the compressor relay replaced in amana bottom mount. Frig cools fine but every 2 days or so buzzing noise...

I have been doing refrigeration for over 30 years and I have never seen a compressor with a chip inside of it. Have you tried cleaning the condensor coils? I almost sounds like you have a weak start capacitor. Let me know if i can help you any futher.

My refrigerator sounds like someone is running a weed eater behind it. if i turn it off and then back on it stops. this refrigerator is probably 20 plus years old. is it dying?

Hi,

Your refrigerator compressor is making such noise. The compressor supplies the cool air to the freezer and then freezer it goes to the refrigerator. The vibration is transfered to the plastic boards on the refrigerator and it makes the weed eater noise type.
The coil in the compressor has been worned out.You have to replace it.

post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Constant loud noise when frig turns on/comes from bottom

when the compressor is running unplug the ref. and if you hear the noise coming from the compressor then
a ballance spring may be broken inside the compressor.

The compressor will run normally with a broken spring it will just be annoying when it shuts down.

Cleaned behind and under the frig and now it won't work

Don't know if this a solution or not. We must have moved something or jarred something when we vacuumed inside the back. After we moved it out again, took the grill off the bottom in the front, cleaned it and put it back on, everthing seemed to work OK. We went to work that morning and when I got home in the afternoon, the freezer and fridge were both working fine.

Freezer on the bottom

Because there are many models like the model number listed above your post I will need you to confirm the model number on the refrigerator. The photo below shows were to look for the model number. Some like yours have a simple defrost system and some have circuit control boards. Everyone has these problems with every brand, Your model is Amana and also a Maytag brand. Let me know so I can help you get this going thanks, Sea Breeze

Buzzing intermittent

most likely the compressor relay is the clicking noise but i think the problem is most likely the compressor is starting to go bad and is lcoking up. if the refig is under 5 yrs old it is most likely still in warranty by amana

Freezer works fine...refrigerator section

Have you noticed more frost in the freezer than usual? It sounds like you may have moisture building up and freezing around evaporator fan. The fan blade hitting ice will cause the buzzing until it stops it completely or the evaporator clogs with frost and blocks airflow. If you have frost on food in freezer, check the door seals and make sure nothing is keeping doors from closing completely if you release them about 6" from cabinet.

Frig not cold but freezer is ice maker not making much ice either

Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.
