Leaks My dishwasher is only about 14 months old. Suddenly it has developed a severe leak. This leak appears to be coming from the area of the front left leg, and from the hinged area of the closed door. It has gotten alot worse now.

    Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem and discovered that the seal around the window came loose from the inside then the water would get inbetween both windows and was leaking a little through the front window. NOW, it gushes out the front window and I cannot use it anymore because I cannot find a replacement door for it. This dishwasher has been **** ever since I got it.

Duct tape...mine did the same thing, i tried hot glue, then daul compound high heat epoxy....finally i ripped the inside window off, covered it w/ tape, making sure i put the tape layered starting at the bottom so the water falls over (like roof shingles)and ending on the top side of the door, and presto, 6 months later still no leaks, and the fix cost me about a nickle...
A little bit of the glue from the tape occasionally gets on some of the silverware, but not enough to bother me

this dishwasher is a lifesaver :)

Whirlpool dishwasher leaks

Just about all dishwashers will leak a little around the door seal over time but should not leak to the point of wetting the floor. With the door open, check in the front of the tub, under the door. Lots of gunk? Clean this area out well plus take a soft damp rag and clean the door gasket while feeling for any damage. Then go along the mating surface of the door and look for any nicks. If it leaked all the time I would suspect the door hinges have been sprung. Hope this helps, Ken

Leaks when being unloaded

I may not have the full solution here, but to avoid (expensive) sub-floor damage, I recommend you do the following.  Assuming that the water is not coming from some dripping between the opened door at the hinge....
-Remove the kick plate that is in the bottom, front of the dishwasher.
Use a flashlight to look for wet flooring.  Run the dishwasher with the kick plate removed, watching for leaks/dripping.  It is possible for a leak to seep under the floor.  If leaking is found, do not ignore it.  Pull the dishwasher, fix the leak or replace the dishwasher.  Remove the first layer of sub-floor under the dishwasher, looking for deeper damage.
You should probably do the same with the carpeted area.  Pull the carpet back and decide if the sub-floor needs to be replaced.  A flooring expert should probably inspect.
Sorry to be such an alarmist, but I have been around floor damage that was unnoticed and ignored.

Water level too high in tub causing water to leak out front

Sounds like the drain hose is disconnected. Check to make sure that the tube is not blocked and is connected properly. If the checks out then you should check your water sensor meter and make sure tht it is stoppingthe system at the correct points.

Slight water leak towards end of cycle

Did u notice the Quantity of detergent used? If the leaking water is soaping, it is an indication of excess detergent used that cause the leaks. Reduce the detergent n observed the DW running, or run the DW without detergent several times to remove all residual residing inside the washer. If not check the door gasket or change the door gasket.

Leak from a black module, where an arm connects

if your dishwasher leaks check out this: Main tub seal Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the:

  • Lower rack

  • Spray arm

  • Spray arm support

  • Wash/drain impellers

Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

Leaking dishwasher

Are you washing cereal bowls or mixing bowls on the bottom rack? If so, are you placing them in front? Sudden leaks that form huge puddles can often be attributed to improper loading of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers don't have a seal across the tub front. The door closes over it and does a pretty good job of deflecting water back inside the wash cavity. However, if you place bowls in the front on the bottom rack rack they can divert the water right over the tub lip and onto the floor. This is usually the culprit that causes most leaks in dishwashers. Now, if you don't think you have a loading problem, remove the kick panel on the bottom of the dishwasher and check the drain line and pump housing for leaks. Check the door gasket for tears or cracks. Lastly, feel inside the bottom of the door with your hand. You should be able to feel the door insulation. If it is wet, then the problem could be a leak around your soap or rinse-aid dispenser. Depending on the model, some dispensers are mounted to the door with a gasket behind it. Sometimes this gasket can form leaks. I hope this helps.
