I bought my emachines laptop 16 month ago in Tesco. Unfortunately it did not come with an operating disc. A virus has killed my operating system and I have now got an XP pro instead of a Vista. Unfortunayely in loading the new system it has cleaned my whole files and I now have no WIFI. How can I get it back. I am desperate. Please!

On a phone I'd do a back up to the cloud then simply reinstall the operating system completely on the phone form the settings panel.
Your Microsoft passport account should allow you to do the back up. Just make sure to recover any photos music and movies using the windows PC desktop app.
My reasoning for this is that once the phone is compromised, there is no guarantee that the OS is clean when you use an antivirus.
Secondly Antiviruses rarely ever check for damage done to the operating system that are NOT part of the virus infection. It's the prime reason for OS failure are a viral attack.
Starting afresh is the only way to (almost) guarantee being free of Virus damage and have a trustworthy operating system.
In that case unfortunately, you are probably going to have to get a Windows DVD. Set the laptop to boot off DVD, and reformat and do a complete reinstall.
As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different driver or some other small issue.
To get rid of the virus and set it back "just as you bought it", reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system with your recovery or operating system disc. If you use the built in quick recovery system, the virus will remain, and continue to cause damage to the system.
I'm not sure where you were going with this, but I believe you can fix this yourself. Run a virus scan, then go into the virus vault in the anti virus software and empty the vault. If the virus did damage to the operating system, do a system restore. However if the operating system is damaged beyond repair or restore, you will need to do a system reload using either a recovery disc or an operating system disc. If you don't have these discs you can purchase a Windows operating disc at Walmart or Bestbuy.
