Question about Hotpoint Washing Machines

Open Question

The clothes come out of the washing machine with mud on them. There is no mud i the washing machine. We have put CLR and have done many dummy washes to get the system clean. Everytime we wash the clothes have mud marks on them. The drum is clean and has no mud in it.

SOURCE: Black marks on clothes

My wife complained that we were having similar problems recently. After investigation I located the remains of a pen entering the filter and removed this and did a few empty boil washes to remove any remains of ink and this worked for us. Check the filter and hose between the drum and filter.

SOURCE: Black mark on clothes after washed in Maytag top load washer.

Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.

SOURCE: black oil or grease on clothes after washing

is you machine a top loader or front loader? if its a front loader the black marks could be from the boot. WIpe the boot with a good cleaner. and try not to over load machine. and if it a top loader your transmission is probably leaking oil back into clothes tub. You could have it rebuilt $$$ or better replace the machine.

How do you remove bad odor from leaving dirty water in the machine

odor is from bacteria so any product that kills bacteria would be a help
try filling the tub as in a full wash , adding a cup full of bleach and running the wash cycle ( no clothe just water)
If you use washing powder as a detergent , there will be a build up of detergent mud under the wash bowl and the bacteria will be living in that mud

Tip

Taking care of your Cloth-Top

Do not wash the cloth top except when needed, and then use only RaggTopp Cleaner. Vacuum the top before washing your car. be careful to not get any car wash mixture on the top as it will remove some of the protectant (dish detergent will remove all of it!). Routine cloth top cleaning is vacuuming with a brush attachment. This should be done before each car wash and after driving in dusty areas. Washing should be done only if the top has become dirtied with bird droppings, tree sap, soot fallout, mud, etc.

My clothes are coming out with brown marks, even if it is just hand washing being spun only.

you may have to remove the agitator and clean out the mud from under it
It may be a failed seal on the shaft and the gear box oil is being forced up the shaft and into the cloths.
The mud is from washing powder ( basic clay) that will not properly dissolve or be removed when the empty cycle is operating
If that is the case change over to liquid detergents

try running some cleaner through the machine on a hot 60-90 degree wash cycle with no clothes in. It may take a few goes to remove the build up of soapscum from the inner drum of the appliance

Is it ok to wash horse boots in the washing machine?

Yes. You don't even need to use the delicate cycle. Just use a hose to get the mud off and them put them in a normal cycle. You can even put them in the drier when they're done.
