Won't boot up, Fans are on non-stop

I push the power button on the front of the tower, the fans start up you hear it start to power up and then it makes a faint clicking noise and nothing. Nothing shows up on the monitor except for the orange light to tell you the power is on. Keyboard lights don't light up. I got nothing but running fans. Can anyone help?

No beeping at all. I opened it up blew out all the dust with some air and tried it again. Same thing happened as above. I got nothing but running fans, a CD drive that opens and closes and a blue power button lit up on the front of the tower. Any other suggestions? Also, could I take my HD somewhere and get my data put on something else so I dont lose it. I have tons of pictures stored on the computer and I have some backed up but not all

Open up the pc with power off. After cleaning with a blowing or sucking device, gently press on the connections and plug-in devices. Retry.

If no avail, the power supply or the motherboard may have bit the dust. U can get them repaired or replaced.... or save the HD and buy a another pc and add the old HD as a data disk.

I'm sure U checked the devices and connections, so it sounds like the power supply is good. Must be MBoard. U do not need to take the hd anywhere, buy another desktop and plug the old hd into the other connection on the ribbon cable that goes to either the CD/DVD drive or the HD. connect power cable to old HD. After U boot up U will see the old HD, just copy what ever U want to save to the new drive. Pay some attention to the jumpers on the back of the drives. U may have to adjust to slave or cable select if U'r system doesn't see the old drive.

Pet pulled out power supply cord and now tower won't work

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problemis with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and takenote of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

DELL 8400 MAKES A LOUD FAN NOISE AND WONT BOOT

There are 2 basic fans in Dell tower one for the power supply and the other for the Processor. If your computer is not booting then the Processor fan is most likely to be the culprit. What could be happening is that the Processor fan is no longer turning fast enough to cool the processor, so normal the processor when it over heats there is either protection to switch off the computer automatically or the computer won't boot. The best thing is to change the fan and make sure it is working properly but checking on the cables that they won't entangle on top of the fan to impede it's movement. You can easily damage your processor if the fan is not working properly.

Alienware Aurora Desktop does not boot, has no HD activity

If the activity light on the front of the tower is not glowing than it can be an issue with the power supply of the PC. Try to open the tower and try to reseat the Power supply cables and check.
You can also try to Reseat the RAM (memory) sticks. If you have 2 Memory stick you can just try to boot the pc with the help of one stick and vice versa. If still the issue persist you can try to do a test on the Motherboard. Simply take out the Memory cards and power on the pc . if you hear a beeping noise than the Motherboard is fine and if you dont hear a beeping noise that it is a faulty Motherboard.

I have a Lenovo A61 Thinkcentre that is about one year old. I am now hearing a fairly loud noise that comes and goes. When the system starts, the noise appears and lasts 10 - 20 minutes, then disappears....

Ok it still sounds like an fan. look for fans, one in power supply, one on cpu, one in case(frount or back), one on video card. before you start from cold unplug the fans that you can. and stop the one in power supply. then if there is no nosie you have to start pluging them back in till you hear the noise. **NOTE!!** don't run it long without fans!!( 40 secs) is long enough..

Gateway Profile 3se cooling fans don't start every time.

The Internal Fan On the cpu is always on correct? If so the external fans come on when the tower case has a temp higher than 85F. This is perfectly normal

My computer won't start! It was shut down by the start menu and when I went back to it about an hour later, I push the button in to power the computer on and nothing is happening. Yes, it is plugged in...

Unplug it and hold the power button in for up to 60 seconds to discharge.

Is there an I/O button in the back of the computer? Make sure it is set to I.
