Whirring noise in clothes dryer

I have an older model Kenmore dryer. It's about 10 years old. I have replaced the heating element about a year ago and it's been working fine until today. It makes this whirring noise when I turn it on. It spins fine, and the airways (vents) are not plugged...there is good airflow. It also heats just fine. What cold possibly be making the whirring noise.

The dryer stopped making the whirring noise after about 10-15 minutes in the cycle. Thanks for your help.

Kenmore Gas Dryer does not dry clothes.

If this is the electric version then after 15 years you probably need a new heating element, they are not difficult to install and are not terribly expensive as a DIY project.

Dryer heats up, but does not dry clothes. Vent is clean

As you can see, your heating element has 5 heating coils. If one or more of these coils have opened you dryer will still work and heat but not at well as it would if all coils worked together. You can check each coil with an ohm meter to verify if one or more is open.

this is a frigidaire made dryer with kenmores name on it. The drum bearing needs more grease. You really need to know what your doing before you take that job on yourself. Its easy for me...but I have been doing it for 20 years and thats the way I role

Dryer not hot

Tht means that the element is not heating on.

You need to call a technician to test the element, the thermic sensor, and the control assembly.

The most likely is a defective heating element, that must be replaced.

Maytag PYE3300AYW Elec Dryer Runs, But No Heat

hello kellygubser,
If you are sure the thermal switch is ok.. have you checked the high temp ( bi metal snap switch) too? Here is a link to the wiring diagram of your dryer. You can see that there are a few other temp switches in circuit of the heating element that would disble it.. Hope this helps
