More on Ballasts from Alanx

Travis:

Here is the link (I think). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260236559125&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

But, I am going to return the ballast since i found the color wheel broken. If I can't get a new color wheel, all is lost and new TV in the short future. That being said, I now have 1 new bulb and the first bulb (about a week old) that I might be selling if anyone is interested. Before you buy the ballast, let me know and maybe we can talk. Since my original ballast was not bad, I have a ballast and two good bulbs for anyone with these tvs. Alan

By looking at the photo of the ballast on eBay, it doesn't appear to match the one that is in my television, but I haven't looked at it lately, but I will check it later this week and see if it perhaps matches. My set actually has a new bulb already in it, so I really won't need other bulbs right now since I don't have any extra money for backup parts. I might be interested in your ballast if our tvs take the same one; but like I said, I'll check later this week when i get back home and I'll let you know if it fits or not. Thanks, -Travis

DVI Input Shot

Hi Alanx,

In most cases like yours, the connector has a bad solder joint inside the TV. This occurs from strain from where the HDMI cable gets bumped or bent against a wall or something drops on it. If your skilled and brave, you can go into the TV and check the DVI conector and how well it is soldered in place. Repair the solder joint if this is the case. Good luck. Just think of how proud you will be to have repaired this yourself.

How to replace backlight on seiki led tv

Back light bulbs don't usually go out. The ballasts that control the lights do often. Check the operation of the ballast board first.

WILL A LCD CONTROLLER NOT FIRE THE BACKLIGHT

The LCD controller or T-con board does not control the back light. Some back light ballasts are incorporated into the power supply or the main board. Others are on their own board

Vizio television screen flickers like a strobe light

lcd sets use florescent tubes to light the display and, a ballast to power the tubes just like the lights in an office ceiling.
the tubes are called cold cathodes and, the ballasts are called inverter boards. replace your inverter circuit board it connects by wires to the cold cathodes so; isn't hard to find.

Backlighting issues on tv set (I think). Screen goes extremely dark after about 30 min. of viewing. Does not return to orginial brightness unless unit is left off for a long period of time

Lcd tv sets are lit by small glass florescent tubes called cold cathodes and, are powered by: ballasts called inverters... these go out just like your office florescent lighting the parts can be purchased online from electronic parts houses and, are easily replaced
