Is it going to sleep or is it actually shutting down? Do you have to push the power button to turn it back on? Just a thought - if you have Windows 7, go to Start, Control Panel, then System and Security. Now check 'Change when the computer sleeps' under Power Options. Under Edit Plan Settings, what do you have for 'Put the computer to sleep'. Does '20 minutes' show up in the box? Open it and change it to 'Never' and then Save changes. If this didn't help you, maybe someone else can.

My HP Media Center PC m1180n had been running fine. I just went to shut it down and after it powered off, I saw a spark come from inside the tower. No there is no power to the PC. Any help would be...

I've had this happen and was able to resolve by removing the power cord for about a minute.
If still nothing, remove the side panel and inspect the motherboard for melting or charring. If you see some you will need to replace the motherboard, if none is present, start by replacing the power supply. Still nothing then it's motherboard replacement
There is a possibility the spark fried more than just the motherboard.

Comment back if you need clarification or more help.

I put in a cd in the cd drive and it will not open the tray to take the cd out on my hp media center pc m1264n

There are two ways to open the CD drive door ifthe button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD drivemay be faulty and needs replacing.

My hp media center pc worked fine untill about two months ago when it just shut off on me after a couple hours of use. The power button was flashing blue and orange and the only way to turn it back on was...

This could be a heat issue. If the PC is on the floor, it will draw large amounts of dust and dirt into the machine via cooling fans. Check this link to reduce heat inside your case and on individual components.

Look at the rear of the PC - near where the power cord connects to the power supply. Locate the LED lamp and compare to this link for HP's document to assist troubleshooting the power supply.

Hope fully, one of these options will be a solution for your problem. Good luck!

We had a power outage and now my HP m1264n desktop computer will not start. The green light on the back is flashing, but nothing happens when I press the power button on the front. Could it be my power...

the green light on the power supply but it dosnt relay to the mother board, the first item I would nbe concerned with is that the power supply that is,unplug your computer open up the access panel on the tower, the largest plug from the power supply, going to the motherboard unplug it . the plug has a release on it pinch inward and pull up at the sametime this will relaese it, now plug in your computer to the wall power and if your power supply has a switch on it turn it on,also make sure the 240 110 volt switch it's a slide switch on the power supply is on 110 volts if your not in europeits 110 here in the usa, if the light fails to blink or even turn on its the fuse in the power supply,if the light comes on blinking the power supply needs more attention if the light stays on full the problem lyes beyond the power supplyI would guess the fuse is the problem, now youll find two of them within the case of the power supply hope this helps.

Hp 7463 xp media center will not see hp thumb drives of 4 or 8g's. Even tried 2 different powered usb hubs. Only see error 22.

Hi turn off the computer and unplug the power cord for 2 minutes. Then replug it and start up the computer. That should solve it. If it doesn't then you have a software issue most likely a virus.

this issue has been taken up on this forum, with a plethora of solutions. This is a power issue. Easiest solution, unplug the computer, wait 5 minutes, plug it back in, wait 2 minutes, then turn it on. That will fix your problem 90% of the time. If not, here is a bunch of solutions:
