Turn off the plotter.
Remove all Cards if any from the EIO slots
JetDirect card is usually plugged in there.
Restart the plotter without the EIO cards installed.
If the plotter starts normally.
Shut down the plotter,
Install the JetDirect back into the plotter,
but into the other EIO slot from where you removed it.
Start the plotter, if the plotter starts normally,
then you have one bad slot.
If the plotter hangs on the same error.
Replace the JetDirect, or what ever EIO cards you have installed.

Replace the hard disk on the printer. If this printer has been sitting for 2 years, you will probably have major ink system problems also. Ink may have dried out and clogged up the printheads.

Unfortunately I had a similar issue with an HP A0 printer. The Hp 'Engineer' could not fix it. The hard drive had failed and there is a complete new hard drive with software loaded available but only through Hp.

the error code gives :
Carriage failure. The possible cause could be:

The Carriage PCA is not compatible with the rest of the Printer.
The Carriage ASIC has problems initializing.
The +2.5V reference voltage generated in the Carriage PCA is out of range.
One of the Carriage ASIC's cannot be found within the Serial Bus that connects the Electronics Module to the Carriage.

Printer runs the self test and then initializing and then stops at "initializing, please wait" and goes no further. has new firmware and good memory???

I have had this problem several times and it was always caused by bad inkcartridges. Try starting up the printer without all cartridges. When printer tells you to place the cartridges put them in and see if you get an error. The cartridge witch causes the error is the "bad guy".

Error code 04C300 001E0000

This is an IO error. If there is a Hard Disk installed, remove it - the printer will run fine without it. If that does not solve the problem, remove the JetDirect card and run the test print. If the test print works, replace the JetDirect card. Parts available at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-654-designjet-1050c-1055cm.aspx

Put the camera into play or review mode then hit the ok/menu button on back and format the card. This will erase all of your photos so make sure you've backed them up or download them.

that is ok as long as it does not get stuck on that screen - if it is getting stuck you may need a firmware upgrade from:
