I have a keyboard model Ione Scorpius-35 with built-in trackball...how do I remove the trackball to clean the contacts? Other trackballs had a ring that you could twist with a pen-point and then remove the trackball...this does not have any intuitive method.

Afternoon. I read that this keyboard does not have any access to the trackball directly. I guess when cleaning time comes, the whole thing will have to be taken apart.

I am considering the purchase of this keyboard; would you recommend it? I am looking for a keyboard with mechanical keys and a built in trackball.

Scroll is hesitating.. Will work for moment then button keeps scrolling but screen does not scroll with movement of button... Can this be fixed or do I have to replace? [email protected]

Lynne:
You can try a few things... Take a clean rag or cloth and moisten it with rubbing alcohol and gently scrub across the scroll wheel to remove dirt and skin oils from the scroll wheel and trackball. Don't let alcohol drip into the trackball body. If that doesn't work, and you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can turn the trackball over and remove the screws that hold the housing together (some may be under the rubber pads on the bottom of the trackball) open the housing and clean the parts that contact the trackball and scroll wheel with a clean rag or cloth. Blow out any dust or dirt in the housing, Dry the parts you cleaned with alcohol and reassemble the trackball. Use rubber cement on the rubber pads, not model cement or super glue, in case you need to disassemble the trackball again at a later time.

My black berry baal stucking and not working...can suggest the sollution

I remembered an article some months ago which mentioned the coloring the of the Pearl's trackball by coloring the LED beneath the trackball. Finally I realized that removing the pearl's cover would the best way to get access to its sensor and clean it. By the way, this should work for all BlackBerry devices that carry a trackball around like BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, 8800, 8820 and 8830.
The silver ring which covers the trackball can easily be removed if you use a small screwdriver to lift it at the outer side of the ring. Be careful here! Like you should be during the whole process as all parts have very small plastic nipple which can break very easy. When the silver plastic ring is removed you will see the inner trackball component which can be removed completely. Before doing this you should carefully remove the silver metal ring that holds the trackball component in its position. The trackball component itself can also be carved. For every direction the ball can roll to you'll find a sensor wheel. Those wheels are mostly carrying some gunk you should clean them from. Once this is done put everything back together to the place the pieces came from and secure the trackball with the silver plastic ring you removed in the first step. Your BlackBerry's trackball should be back working now.

How can you switch over to different computers with the Scorpius -p7 trackball keyboard?

If your keyboard and this KVM Switch are both PS2 (from the picture I see the KVM Switch is PS2 and from the Internet searching for Scorpius -p7 trackball keyboard I see it can be either USB or PS2) the connections are straight forward.

Usually a 2 port KVM switch uses keystrokes to make the switch, they are usually "Scroll Lock" or rarely "Num Lock" -- press the key 2 times with about a second or less between presses. You may hear a BEEP from the switch indicating "it's hearing your request."

Good Luck

Trackball 8800 Blackberry

Your trackball needs to be cleaned. You have two options.

1) You can send it in to be repaired, or
2) You can clean the trackball yourself.

To clean the trackball yourself:

The silver ring which covers the trackball can easily be removed if you use a small screwdriver to lift it at the outer side of the ring. Be careful here! (Like you should be during the whole process as all parts have very small plastic nipple which can break very easy.)

When the silver plastic ring is removed you will see the inner trackball component which can be removed completely. Before doing this you should carefully remove the silver metal ring that holds the trackball component in its position.

The trackball component itself can also be carved. For every direction the ball can roll to you’ll find a sensor wheel. Those wheels are mostly carrying some gunk you should clean them from.

Once this is done put everything back together to the place each pieces came from and secure the trackball with the silver plastic ring that you removed in the first step.

Your BlackBerry’s trackball should be back working now.

The rollerball on my Blackberry Curve wont scroll down

You have two options to repair your trackball. 1) you can send it to a repair facility or 2) You can repair it yourself.

To repair it yourself, you will need to gain access the trackball (rollerball) and its sensor and clean them.

Scorpius K3NT USB Keyboard prevents resume after standby in Win2K

When entering standby, the usb ports go to sleep. Most motherboards allow you to tell the bios that you are using a usb keyboard. That should solve the problem. I keep an old ps2 keyboard plugged in and on the floor as a 'just in case'.

I have blackberry pearl and the white roller does not move downwords

I had the same problem and after being told that the sensor was more than likely fried and that I could "upgrade" with the purchase of a new phone I tried to "clean" the sensor myself. I used a can of "Dust Off" )compressed air that you use to clean your keyboard) - shooting the keyboard of the phone from various angles and it did the trick. Good luck!

YOU NEED TO CLEAN JUST SENSOR WHEELS NOT BALLS ITSELF.

KidTrac Trackball

You'll need to remove the three phillips head screws on the bottom of the trackball. That will provide access to the contacts under the ball for cleaning.

Great trackball. A little more friction than the Kensington Expert Rollerball, which I like as long as the contacts inside are kept clean.
