Question about Sony Computers & Internet

Open Question

Hi My Sony Vaio VGC-lv1s appears to have completely frozen. We had a power cut and it started and said it was doing a startup error check thingy. It did that and restarted a few times. Now it starts but I get to the log in screen with my account picture and it will not let me do anything. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I assume they are working as it let me select start system normally but the mouse cursor will not move. I have no way of restarting it normally without holding the power button down. Help

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

My sony vaio computer only run on safe mode but not on normal mode..., no audio..., what do you think is the problem

What happens if ypu try to start in normal mode? You can force a normal boot by presing F8 when the PC is booting to see the advanced startup options. If you are getting a stop error then please get me the error code so that I can help you troubleshoot.

I went to Sony and typed in your particular model and added mouse at the end and got some results. There are some refurbished ones but I would never recommend those. The one i do see is $30,probably plus shipping too.Do notebook mouses have a smaller plug attachment or something? You said you searched online.I would try office depot or staples if you already haven't and there is one near you.You can call and ask rather than drive there. Also, optical mouse is the best.So much better than the rubber roller, well worth it's weight in gold.Anyhow here is the link.Good luck! I don't know if this is the solution you're looking for but if it's less than a year old I would say call sony and get a replacement drive. They may even be required to have a year hardware warranty (but don't quote me on that). That would actually be much faster/easier than searching the internet for a firmware fix that may or may not exist or help at all.

My sony vaio vgc-js160j has a blue screen, shutdown and then restarts

When booting press F8,or your button to get to the Screen that has Safe Mode etc on it..then select 'Disable Automatic Restart on System Error'

Maybe it might be a Memory Fault or a Startup Program causing this BsoD.

You might then try to run your PC in Safe mode and look for Programs you installed recently.

Hope this helps
