That's because it is probably made of plastic with a plastic lens !!

These scopes are NOT suitable for Astronomy. They are considered TOY telescopes.

Read my tips on my profile page. You will not find any manuals for this scope.

Need to know how to use the telescope after it is setup

Lorraine, join a club or get instruction book. An optical telescope which uses lenses is known as a refracting telescope or a refractor; one which uses a mirror is known as a reflecting telescope or a reflector. Besides optical telescopes, astronomers also use telescopes that focus radio waves, X-rays, and other forms of electromagnetic radiation.

Cannnot see anything through the telescope

I know this may sound really stupid but with old Mead reflector I kept forgetting to take the cap off the tube. Seeing that it sets down inside a bit it's easy to miss.

I don't know about the motor on this scope.

Astronomical telescopes usually show an upside down image. There is a good reason for this- erecting the image needs more bits of glass in the light path, which reduces the amount of light and increases aberrations. Even if this is only slight, astronomers prefer to avoid it, and they don't really care which way up the Moon or Jupiter appear. It is possible to fit an erecting prism or eyepiece to most astronomical telescopes, and some of them come with one.

You remove the whole large cap to use the telescope.

I don't know about cases for this scope. I just leave my scope set up in the corner of the dining room.

To blury

This is a tiny 40mm telescope. A pair of 10x50mm binoculars is larger and would be better for Astronomy.

Is the eyepiece dirty? Are you in focus? Practice during the daytime on a distant object. DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one. Just too much magnification for this small telescope. Use the eyepiece with the largest number written on it and practice focusing during the daytime.

Blury Meade DS 90mm refracting telescope.

Did you break the mirror? --- or did you knock it out of alignment with the small secondary mirror in the front of the tube?

Contact someone at a local astronomy club to help you with collimation on the scope if nothing is broken.
