Hi, I have a BSNL wireless modem + router for my broadband connection. Details of the modem are given below. Manufacturer: ITI Limited. Type: DNA-A211-I Feature: 4Eth + 1 WiFi802.11g ADSL2+ Router Though I am able to connect the Internet from my laptop through WAN miniport but not able to connect the internet through the Wireless or WiFi. It is showing "Access: Local Only". Also my other WiFi devices like iPod is not able to open any page (but the WLAN connection is showing properly). In the modem I can see that the "INET" LED is not at all turning on. I am using this modem for the last 10 months and everything was fine until 2 days back when I powered off the modem (it is not the first time I switched it off) and then turned it back on and found All the required LEDs except "INET" (PWR, DSL, WLAN) is glowing. Please help me to find a solution. I need my WiFi to go properly. I believe it's an issue in the modem hardware (or software). NOTE: Like I said everything in this modem was fine 2 days back, so the WiFi settings are properly done and the network is properly secured through WPA2-PSK security. And all these were done through the 192.168.1.1 link. Also after this issue I tried to reboot the modem couple of times through this link but nothing changes.

This is because your router is setting your pc at a different IP address than your original modem. Make sure router is set to enable DHCP which gives out an automatic ip address and check your wireless card and network cards are set to obtain ip address automatically. It may take a few re-starts to get on the internet as your systems will need to clear their previous DNS settings. Also i assume you have set up the home network wizard (XP) as you are now using a router and not a direct modem. Also try Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.

You can try to power cycle your entire network (refresh).
This often happens when you have a large network.

  1. power down ALL Computers and disconnect the desktop from the D-Link Switch.
  2. turn off all SLAVE AP's first.
  3. Turn off the Master AP and disconnect one end of the Ethernet.
  4. Turn off the D-Link Switch and disconnect one end of the Ethernet.
  5. Now, turn off your modem.
Leave them for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your urgency.
Turn on and connect all devices in the EXACT order.
  1. Turn on the modem. wait 2 minutes.
  2. Turn on the D-Link Switch and wait 1 minute. Then connect the Ethernet to the MODEM.
  3. Turn on the Master AP and wait 1 minute. Then connect the Ethernet to the D-Link Switch.
  4. Turn ONE of the Slave AP's. Turn on your Laptop. try to connect to the Internet. If successful, Disconnect from the network on the computer and proceed to turn on the rest of the Slave AP's, Laptops, and Desktop. If its NOT successful, power on the Desktop and try to connect to the internet.
  • If the desktop connects to the Internet, Check your D-Link's homepage "192.168.1.1" (default) for any wrong settings. If it does not connect, check your DSL Modem's settings.
If the above does not work, post what you did the day before this happened. Probably something small might have messed with the network.

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

you can secure your wi fi netwrok with 2 method
(1) configure your router as WEP'
(2) Enable MAC addreses security.

You can access your router with following default link.

http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1

for belkin router
http://192.168.2.1

type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"

For WEP security.
Configure router as WEP type .
Then go to security then add encryption key it is your password to connect wi fi netwrok.

For MAC security
go to advanced security in wi fi then enable MAC security then add your MAC addreses in allow list with which you want to give permission wi fi netwrok access.

You can find MAC addreses of computer with following command .

Go to start menu then type "cmd" in run then you see command prompy.then type in prompt "ipconfig /all"
then you see your MAc adrses it is physical addreses like 00:57:5e:02:f6:8u

I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..the reason why page cant be displayed bcoz the router and the modem wont talk to each other.. u are connect to the router but not to the internet..this are the possible solution.. .. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router u have to clone the mac address of ur computer. normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just selct on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem. if u are using a username and password, u have to use the pppoe settings on the router, if ur isp set a static ip , set it up to the router, to check the ip setting of your isp.. connect the computer directly to the modem and check if u have internet.. then click on start, run and type cmd,it will give u a dos prompt and from there type ipconfig/all and it will show u the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server.. I hope this will solve ur concern..

Bsnl broadband configure


the router without any Modem WITH internet is useful. You must have Moden with BSNL broaband. Remember the router the only function is amply the signal for internet for use in wireless.

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please check if the BSNL modem is the wireless modem or the Wired modem. If it is a wireless modem then you can connect your system wirelessly to internet , provided that the laptop has the wireless card in it.
If it is a wired modem then you can connect your system with the LAN cable to that modem in each slots to get connected to the Internet.

Sir The belkin wireless router is not responding in BSNL PPOE broadband connection what is the way to get connected through the ISP of BSNL. murali


IF u are using the BSNL broadband connection, you might be having a modem provided by the BSNL, 7230 model is only a router, it doesnt have modem option so all u have to do is
1. Go to belkin page 192.168.2.1(if u changed the ip address in router, then type the default gateway of the router)
2. Click on connection type
3. Setup as a dynamic connection since the PPPoE is already set on the modem
4. Follow the on-screen instructions
5. Check the internet status, if its still showing as not connected then powercycle the router for 15 sec and then reconnect the cable

Broadband wireless adapter limited connectivity issues


If the wireless security on the router is enabled, then the pre-shared key or encryption key on the router and PC should match.

To check the wireless settings, use the laptop to access the web interface of the router. Follow the steps below:

1 Using your Internet browser, go to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your router (by default: 192.168.1.254).
2 On the Home Network menu, click Wireless.
3 In the upper-right corner, click Details.
4 The wireless Access Point page appears. Under:
- Configuration, you can find the network name (SSID).
- Security, you can find the encryption.

On the PC wireless, access the wireless network connection. Select the SSID and then type the encryption key or pre-shared key.

Once the encryption key on the PC and router matches, then you should obtain an IP address and get online.

Data light on my modem is off, but internet connection is shown


Try this in a cmd box/run box...type ipconfig /release.......then ipconfig /renew.should slve the problem if not let me know.RICHARDM69

what is bsnl broadband if you have thomson to acsess the setup and all it freater just type speedtouch.lan in your browser this may help you

well that was easy, you havent detailed any problems to rectify.
assuming there is a connectivity problem sharing the broadband connection,
buy a cheap router, or switch, and install between the cable modem and all 4 pcs
