Question about Optoma LFU250E Projector Lamp for H77,H79

1 Answer

My Optoma H77 is great, but over the past month a shadow has been creeping in on the left side of the widescreen. It is not a straight line - wider at the top than bottom and is about 50% transparent. It has been getting wider and is now about 15% of the screen width, and the first 25% of the shadow is almost opaque. Other than that the projector works great, and has for years. Ideas? I tried to take the cover off, but I will need to get a specific type of hex driver.

Hi.

Either one of the mirrors in the light tunnel has collapsed, or there is a foreign object in front of the lens. The mirror problem is more common.

Here the same problem explained on rear projection TV, it works more or less in the same way on a projector like your Optoma:rear projection TV is displaying a darker shadow on

We have a Viewsonic VX2235wm Black 22" Widescreen We have been experiencing a Grey shadow to the right - damn annoying. Can you please help.

There are "on-screen controls" (electronic) on the monitor and can adjust the screen "position" up-down, left-right, wider-narrower and perhaps twist; clockwise-counter clockwise).
Try that and see if it removes the grey (empty?) area.

On my optoma H77 I am replacing a burnt out bulb with a New one. The ''TEMP'' light blinks immediatly without the projector getting up to normal opporating temp. Is there a ''Reset'' button ?

clean out the projector with canned air to get rid of the dust that could be causing it to overheat. also make sure the fans are spinning. if it still blinks, replace the temp sensor. if it overheats alot, the sensor will wear out from excessive heat.

Optoma H77 - Lamp shuts off after coming on for 5-10 minutes

Hi SoonerJDP

This is indeed a warning that the hours on the lamp has been used up and that you will have to replace the lamp.

Remember to reset the lamp timer once you've replaced the lamp.

Widescreen

Unfortunately, a cinema screen is even wider than a widescreen TV. Because of this (in order to keep the original aspect ratio), even with a widescreen TV you still end up with the black bars top and bottom.

Check the aspect ratio of the DVD (Should be printed on the back of the case somewhere).

Unless it says 1.85:1 or 16:9 Anamorphic, you will get the black bars. (Many films on DVD are 2.35:1 or even wider!)

Have you got any different picture modes on your TV. I've got a Toshiba and it has something called 'cinema mode' which does eliminate the bars. Unfortunately it does it by zooming in on the picture slightly, so you loose a bit off the side of the picture and the image does get a little grainier.

Hope this helps.

Vertical white line

My EP719 had the same problem. Did it once, briefly, soon after I bought it, then not again until recently, when the line came back more frequently and wider.

The projector was 20 days past warranty, and the company would not honor. So much for customer satisfaction and loyalty. Last piece of Optoma equipment I will ever buy!

Anyway, I found a web item on another model of Optoma projector with the same problem. The solution this guy tried was -- I kid you not -- rapping on the thing. With nothing to lose, I tried this on mine. Tapped lightly on the top and noticed a change in the width of the line. Hmmm ... it was sensitive to this.

Tapped harder. The line got narrower. Rapped pretty hard -- thump! -- and the line disappeared.

Since then I have been running the projector for hours, turning it on and off, letting it cool down, starting it up again. And the line seems to be gone. It may come back, of course, so this gonzo fix may not be permament. But if it works while I'm using it at a presentation, think of the amusement it will cause!
