the relay on your compressor is bad go behind you refrigerator and take off the the bottom panel the relay is on the left side of your compressor usually
SOURCE: whirlpool fridge not cooling gone warm air blowing
more than likely the compressor is not starting, it has a starting device on the left side of the compressor which has a relay/overload called a relay, remove the relay and shake it , if it rattles it has gone bad. the relay/overload combination has gone bad and can be replaced with pro41 relay. if the compressor has a run capacitor just eliminate the capacitor when replacing with new relay. connection of the two wires makes no difference.

The fan speed can be deceptive. That is why this problem is so hard to diagnose, when the fan starts to wear out the motor spins but not with enough force to circulate air thru the freezer and rrefrigerator. If you have the ability to swap out the fan motor then it should only cost you the price of the motor and components. Approx. $125.00 if you have the make and model you can go to appliancefactoryparts.com or appliancefactorypro.com to obtain motor and components, But if you have to get serviceman to replace fan it will cost you an hours labor also.

I can help you diagnose the problems with your GE. Several things can cause these symptoms. All you need is a voltage meter patience and a want to, to repair and do it better than a paid technician. In most cases with the PSS26MSRSS the defrost heater is the cause for this. Look into rear of your freezer and back wall. Is Ice or frost building on rear wall? If yes unplug and prepair to remove contents in freezer compartment. Remove rear panel in freezer and use hair dryer to defrost ice until the defrost heater is visible. BRB , Sea Breeze
Testimonial: "Thanks for the quick help - yes frost on back wall. Once I unload and defrost should I then take out defrost thermostat? "

I had a very similar problem- flickering light bulbs, shorting-out noises, electronic temperature displays not working. I had to replace a small circuit board (the "Electronic Control Board") accessed from the rear of the fridge. A relatively easy do-it-yourself job.
