How can i make my computer run faster

do you use P2P (Peer to Peer) file sharing programs? If so then try turning the file sharing program off, as file sharing programs use up alot of bandwidth some broadband providers limit the speed you can use the internet if you are using file sharing programs.
If you turn off the file sharing program your broadband speed goes back to normal .
I faced the same problem ,after doing this i checked my speed from apparently my internet speed is faster than before.
If these doesn't apply ,there is a chance you may have a virus on your computer. A computer virus is likely to not just slow your broadband and Internet down but your computer too.

Slow download speed

Hi Mimi,
If you haven't checked to make sure your computer is free of malware, sometimes it can slow down your internet downloads. Here are a few programs I'd suggest you install and run:
  • ESET Online Scanner (scans from the web, will take a while)
  • SuperAntiSpyware (download and install)
  • Malwarebytes (download and install)

ESET will scan your computer this one time, and may take an hour or more. SAS and MWB will reside on your computer and can be run every couple weeks. Make sure you always run the updates before you scan with them. There are always a lot of things that can effect your Internet download speed.
Malware infection is just one of the common things that effects Internet Speed. Let us know a little more, like... did your connection recently slow down (used to be lot faster)? Is your computer slow overall? Or did this just start?

Requirments working too slow

You may need to do some "housecleaning". You probably have to many running processes. There are many Freeware programs to use to clean up and disable all unnecessary programs. All programs that start with windows will slow down the Laptop. Most are unnecessary and should be Shut down until needed. Two freeware programs to help are , 1, CCLEANER: This will remove the junk, use cleaner and registry, configure, scan, delete. In the TOOLS section , select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary Startup programs to speed up starts and running, the more that's running in background the slower your machine will be. Your specs are minimal at best, you need to "lighten the load" on the processor and the memory. Uninstall ALL unnecessary programs, junkware, toolbars, extensions, etc. on your web browsers. 2, MALWAREBYTES: This freeware programs will remove any malware, and other nasties. In the install, UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Here are more tips to speed up Windows 7: Usually the machine slows due to the owner's input and the owner can speed it up doing some routine maintenance.

If the computer is restarted it is slow to respond. When does respond it very slow. It seems to hang up before it display the hp logo. the same occassionally happens coming out of sleep or hiberation...

Slow booting can be caused by several things. Usually when it hangs it is a driver or update program that is having problems. For example when adobe reader updates it can take a few minutes to check to see if there is a update and so on. These are annoying as the intent is they pop up first thing to say they have an update instead of doing in the background and showing a message a few minutes after booting.

What can also happen is having to reboot it or force it to reboot it can corupt a setup and the program stalls or won't run the next time.

What you need to do is remove any programs you can out of the startup menu to start with. There are a couple of speed loaders that may be in here. Office and adobe as examples. Just move them out of the startup or delete them. They don't need to run and I've never seen them actually save any time in how fast the programs start.
There are other programs such as MSN or other programs that are set by default to run at startup. Those you can change to start when you start them not when windows does. These also can slow things down bu usually when you see the desktop.

The next place to look is add remove programs. Look for any programs that you have recently installed or do not use anymore. If you can remeber you may be able to spot which one was the one that was installed just before everything slowed down. Again this could be updates or corrupt parts of the program.

At this point if you haven't found te problem then it will be either a virus or corrupt driver. Depending on what version of windows you have you can run regedit or msconfig from the start/run window and then look at what starts up.

You should also try running antivirus or antispyware programs. Spyware tend to be dumber versions of viruses. Those will keep downloading more and more until the computer is running so slow it may take an hour or so just to put. There are several online sites that will run searches and let you fix them. there are a lot more that do the search and say spend money. A good one is called housecall. It is good at find viruses and spyware and gets rid of them.

Thats covers quite a bit but you should be able to narrow it down and then if it still is slow get specific help to finish it up if it is still slow.
