Please count the blinks and post that number. That is an internal diagnostic code that will indicate the problem circuit. From that I can give you probable repair parts and costs.
Thanks,
Dan

Hello,
The 2X blink indicates that either the Horizontal output transistor is shorted, or the RGB amp is shorted (on the CV board).
The Horizontal output is probably the cause, and as a general rule, the flyback should be replaced along with the H-Out transistor. Good news is that Sony is pretty good about having parts in stock. In fact, a lot of times they will have the A board with all the parts on it for only a few bucks more than just the flyback, so you basically get a new TV (electronics-wise).
Any decent repair shop should help get the parts/do the repair for you if you don't have the electronic experience.
Hope this helps you...

This indicates "vertical stop," meaning that the TV's vertical output circuit is not working. A number of thing can cause this: failure of the vertical output IC or related components; bad solder connections to the vertical output IC (a common problem); power supply trouble keeping the vertical circuit from operating (also a frequent cause). Without having the set available, it's impossible to offer any suggestions for you to attempt repairs beyond looking for bad soldering. Other troubleshooting would require the circuit diagram (often available from the internet), tools and experience working on a live chassis. If you really want to keep the set and don't feel up to self-repair, it might be worth getting an estimate from a shop. These Sonys are nice sets.
