Generally, the 5700 error idicates a faulty paper sensor. But this error can crop up if the paper feeding mechanism is faulty/obstructed as well.

Ensure that there is no obstruction in the paper feeding mechanism. Look for bits of paper or debris between the rollers.
Or you can try a hard reset: Unplug adapter from printer, hold down the power button and replug.
Should that not work, you may want to consider getting it serviced.

This is what the Canon website has to say: ( This is if you see the 5700 error on the LCD display):

If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.

    1. On the operator panel, press and hold the button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

    2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the button again.

    3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
Also try to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable at both ends to
ensure there is a secure connection on the device side as well as the
computer side. It may also be necessary to try a different USB port on
the computer. Additionally, you may need to disconnect other USB
devices, temporarily, in order to determine if a conflict exists.

Try THIS link as well. In the "enter your question " box, type error 5700. Should be of some help...

Hi,

I believe the only solution to get this fixed is to get it repaired or replace it if it is still under warranty.

See if there's a slotted plastic piece with a spring under it that the bottom tray slides into had been pushed out and up into the paper feed mechanism. just pull it back down into place.

Goodluck,

Canon error code 5700 means your paper sensor is not working. To repair it is more costly than to replace it.

Error 5700 impresora MX700

"Printer died after 1 1/2 years, error code 5700." on May 1, 2009 by danmc7777 (2 reviews)

Pros: This is a pretty decent product as far as ink jets go.
Nice to be able to use the feeder to scan multi-page documents and even cover two sides by running two passes and then the software interleaves the pages to make a seamless pdf file.

Cons: Ink jet technology. It worked very nicely for a year and then a few jets plugged up and wouldn't clear out even with cleaning.
Today the unit is dead, reporting error code 5700 and refusing to do anything after a paper jam.
Cartridges with chips.

Summary: I was pretty happy with this printer until one day it decided to grab about 30 sheets of paper at one time from the top feeder. This created a pretty major jam, and it reported the error code 5700. This jam must have stripped something in the gearing since now all it will do is report this error even after power cycling. Web search reveals that this is a serious fault that requires it to be sent in for repair. Yea, right. This unit is designed to be never disassembled since everything snaps together and opening it up is a major puzzle.

This is only reader review which i found in the web. this may tell you what is the error is all about..

I am getting an error code of 5700 on my PIXA Canon MX700. Any ideas how to fix it? or do I have to get a new one?

Hi,
Try out these things to clear the error:-
1) Reset your device
  • On the operator panel, press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second. (The display will go blank.) If pressing ON/OFF button does not shutoff the device then unplug the power cord.
  • Wait Approx. 10 Sec then press power button ON/OFF button again.
  • Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
or..
2) Remove Paper Jam if any

Else your device need service (repair)

Good luck
Rating the solution is highly appreciated

I HAVE ERORR CODE 5700 ON MY CANNON MX700 , HOW TO FIX IT

5700 is a sheet feeder error, if there is not something caught inside like a ink pen, paper clip, or kids toy, you might need a new feed assembly. Not too expensive, but a shop repair only.
