Samsung HZ10W / WB500 Digital Camera Logo
Posted on Sep 04, 2010

My camera samsung wb500 cannot be recognized by a computer. When plug it in to the computer via usb cord it is recognized by the pc. The light on the camera flickers but nothing happens. Thus I am not able to transfer pictures from the camera to the pc. I've tried different usb ports on two different computers and it was still the same, so the problem shouldn't be on the side of computer. Any suggestion what can be the problem?

I have the same problem with my WB500. From the start I haven't been able to charge it via the computer or down load photos. I solved the problem by buying a card reader and a separate battery charger. I tried to get the problem resolved by Samsung, but with no luck, so solved it my way instead

SOURCE: My camera samsung wb500 cannot

Cross your fingers and hope it is just the cable. The flashing light shows it made a momentary connection. The connectors get loose from use and abuse. They are not expensive to replace. If you can find a store or camera shop or have a friend with the same cable they should have one you can use to test. You don't need to transfer anything just plug it in and see if it connects normally. If it does then buy a new cable. If it doesn't then the problem can be the connection inside the camera or the usb interface inside the camera. Unfortunately those are not going to be a cheap repair. You would spend as much as a new camera. So unless you have warranty left it comes out of your pocket. A new replacement camera will usually be as cheap or cheaper than the repair cost.

Pc wont recognize camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

My pictures don't upload when I use the USB cord for my computer. The arrow light on the cord turns red, and it just doesn't load. /:

Have you install the camera driver ? You should have the CD installer bundled with the camera or you can download the driver software via Google. When the lamp still light red, it means the computer still in process recognizing the camera. More high memory card capacity usually will take longer time, just wait until the camera folder show up in Windows Explorer. Then you can download your picture.

How do I get my samsung WB500 to recognise pictures I have renamed

If you renamed them in your computer and then inserted the card into your camera, they won't show up. The computer uses a different system to write to the card.

My computer doesn't recognize my new cord for my camera

Try to check if the camera software and driver is properly installed in your computer.

Make sure that your camera is compatible with your computer operating system.

Are you sure you purchased a genuine Samsung USB cord? Because it would be much advisable to use Samsung USB cable.

Try to go to MyAccessoryMall.com and you may purchase the cable there.

PC won't recognize

I don't know why they did this, but this camera requires the camera to be plugged into the AC adapter (via battery charger) in order to be able to transfer the data to the computer.
