When you replace a color wheel on the DLPs you have to index the color wheel properly or the tint will be messed up.

I will need your model number. Send your model number to my email slinteriors@yahoo.com and let me know its for the color wheel indexing and I will send the info to you but remember to include the model number of your DLP

Samsung dlp the picture is all shadows with dark green/black colors after replacing with new color wheel..what is wrong? Is it a bad color wheel?

no you need to adjust the color wheel to factory specs by getting into the service software. The color wheel has to be timed to the engine.

When I turn on my Samsung 46" DLP, I get this whining noise that sounds like a soft siren winding up. It cycles on and off with no picture, and then shuts itself off after a few cycles. Sound only.

The tv have a colors wheel is design in it.The whinning noises is it the causes by a dying colors wheel it is spinning off of it motor axis. The colors wheel is dead, require replacing. The colors wheel sit way back of the tv.Have to take out many mechanical parts out before can even come to the colors wheel itself to replace it.If u have no mechanical skills don't tries to replaced the colors wheel by ur self.Hire a tv Tech to do the job,if u don't u do a wrong installation of the new colors wheel in ur tv u will regret it,because the colors wheel functions, link to the tv Light Engine Block itself most exspensive part of the tv beside the CRT-tv tube.

High frequency noise

Hi. The most common cause for this is the color wheel. Replacing it requires removal of the engine/optical block. I'm not sure of your level of expertise but if you want to give it a try go to this website: http://www.jangro.com/electronics/samsung-dlp-replace-color-wheel/ It'll give you some idea of what you're up against. It is similar to what you'll have to do but I don't think your chassis is exactly the same as this one so some things will look different inside.

Everything that is supposed to be black is showing

Hi,It sounds like a problem with the color wheel or DMD board. The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will hear ,humming, buzzing, high pitch noises ,you might also experiment color distortion ,black and white picture. This is how the DMD works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

Please adjust TINT control of Video Settings in Menu that will adjust color tone of TV. I do not think this problem is related with Lamp because TV screen does not have any color blobs or spots.
Above solution is for Sony KDF-55WF655 model TV, if your model number is different, let me know.
Thanks.

The picture is pink, that would point more toward the color wheel, and you can see the fan through the vents in the back and you can go from there. It sounds more like the color wheel since you have a picture malfunction.

The new color wheel is different from the original. The original used an Air Bearing type motor. But the replacement type is a standard bushing type motor. There is a jumper on the rear of the DMD board that may or may not be covered with a paper sticker. Reposition the jumper to accommodate the new color wheel.
