SOURCE: door handle will not engage with latch to open door.

yea but the trick is the latch acces is behind console not the front panel, you need to unistall the d/w slightly to remove strike plate holding broken latch closed, door needs to be opened to gain access to console screws

I recently had the same problem. One of the cords that attaches the door to a spring had snapped. I purchased cord replacments at the following URL and completed the repair myself. http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1059756&PPStack=1

Good Luck, Tim K.

SOURCE: KitchenAid Dishwasher Door Pops open during cycle

Hello,

I have had the same problem since our KitchenAid was new. The only solution so far is to try bending the metal door latch down slightly. You will know when you have bent it too far as the door will no longer close. Just bend it back up slightly. I used to work in the appliance industry and got the service man to admit that the door latch has been an issue and there is no real fix. I have looked at the new KA dishwashers and they have since redesigned the door latch. I am going to see if the new latch can be retrofitted into my Kuds01FLSS6 dishwasher. I will post on here if indeed it works.

Good luck
Tom

SOURCE: Where can I buy the cable repair kit for my Kitchenaid dishwasher

OK, pretty easy fix. Look at diagram 10 here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5164885

The link (#24) probably broke and the spring (#18) probably shot off and is lying somewhere behind the dishwasher. Just pull out the dishwasher (careful not to disconnect or crimp any of the hoses) and check to see if both springs (one on each side) can be located. Just replace the old links and re-hook the springs and all should be well.

You can order the link replacement (part #8194001) from kitchenaid at 1-800-422-1230.

My kitchenaid DW kudc101xwho will not stay on. Runs a few min and shuts off. Is this the control panel or the timer?

May be this is the reasons.

a) May be your door latch is opening due to pressure inside the dishwasher. The door latch opens and the dishwasher will stop. Quite common problem on KITCHENAID. KitchenAid door is a heavier door compared to sister product WHIRLPOOL. If door latch problem then has to change the door lock along with the top latch.

Should the KitchenAid dishwasher #kudio1flbl6 door open automatically?

If it does, it's the first time I've ever heard of a D/W with this feature. But read your manual to be positive.

The latch on my kitchenaid dishwasher is loose or broken and I can't open the door. Any ideas. Model #KUDS24SE

yes remove the top of machine and make sure the power is switcht off.;;;;;on the front of machine with your hand pushed down to the door switch ,not easy but keep trying, you will find the door switch with both hands wrigle until the door opens i know its hard and your hand will suffer but it will open keep trying, this switch needs replaced at all costs, you might have to replace the switch plus the holder .Once door is open unscrew the two screws and the whole latch will be in your hands remove the plug and you will have it in your hand ,replace backwards to what ive said, good luck psthis part/sshould cost 20 dollers.

Door will not open on my KitchenAid Superba dishwasher

Hi Karissa (I LOVE your name!)

I took the opportunity of your post to upload a technical service manual for you. The "child lock" feature is only for the control functions (the buttons) and has nothing to do with the door actually locking. Here is the link to the tech manual. I hope you find it useful.

Kitchenaid dishwasher door does not stay up in the open position.

On each side of the dishwasher, near the ground, is a nylon cord and pulley apparatus that keeps the door from flopping down when opened. It probably needs some adjustment of the tension on the cord.

KitchenAid model KUDS25SH (Stainless) latch has come loose.

Remove the six or seven screws that secure the entire control panel to the door (screws are located inside of door around the top. Pull out the control panel and the door latch mechanism will be right there for you to work on.
