You can change the brushes by opening the two little doors one on the top and one underneath the tool and the brushes will just fall out. you can then pop the new brushes in and replace the little doors. if you are looking for where to bye the brushes then just go on ebay or bye from dremel direct. im not sure how much dremel want for the brushes but i paid £7.58 on ebay.
i hope this has helped.

I have a Saab 93 which is an ex fleet car, the service history shows 72000 mile service carried out by a Saab dealer, is it safe to assume the cam belt would have been changed during that service?

Check everything for condition since the service record is a copy and might have been faked. If the belt is new it will still have printed information visible on it. If it has a brown sheen to it and no sign of lettering it is likely to be old. Given the potential damage a broken belt can do to the engine I would change is out just to have peace of mind. At the same time replace the starter motor brushes (about £10) and the alternator voltage regulator with brushes (about £12); inexpensive preventative DIY measures that will provide a further 70k miles. Lastly check brake fluid and parking brake mechanism. Any hint that these have been neglected then renew and refurbish as they are not expensive.

Washing machine motor issues with brushes and carbon dust read this if your...

due to carbon dust build up around the drum motor in most washers that have non linear motor that have carbon brushes
you can get a state of error i call a ghost error
as its just due to the build up of carbon powder around the motor its connector and stator coils {speed pickup}
as the brushes deplete you end up with a pile of it building up between the brush contact and the motor housing leading to electricity leaking to earth of the motor metals

so a stiff dry new paint brush and give the motor a good brush around to remove the conduction path the dust creates

this effects the low voltage sensors in the motor like its speed control etc
leading to the mcu controller board miss diag the motor as bad and you get a E or F motor error
also this can and will trip your homes MCB detector and ECLD mains power switch

as i say its a ghost error and easily solved

any engineer worth his salt when fitting new brushes or even looking at this fault
will do this first to try to clear the fault if the brushes are aok
before he condems the controller board ... as bad

a new set of brushes should be part of a service you should carry out
much like an mot when its outside its warrenty period

and brushing out the old dust
should be done anyway when new brushes are fitted when needed
or there condition checked as still ok

basically brushes should be about at least 3/4 " long for a life left of about a year
and have enough preasure on the armature to ensure good current flow too it via the stator
if you have motor F or E fault conditions or a machine that trips your mains on spin etc
this prob needs done anyway
a set of brushes it cheep and a brush is also cheep

so give it a good brush out
then reset the machine
you power off at the mains
you hold in a button or two
you power on at the mains
ive read some machine need the program switch to be placed and then dialed like a safe to reset the main board from some types of motor fault
caused by carbon dust build up typical candy auto washers.. and others
they make it hard to make people money

Machine spins but doesn't go into a full 1400 spin so washing is coming out wetter than normal. Had the brushes replaced last week.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

How used/old is your washer, please? Sorry to ask this but apparently the problem was not the brushes, then? Were they actually worn and not contacting the commutator cleanly or was it a guess at brushes? It's normally possible to see and hear how well the brushes are contacting. I try to pursuade people not to just change brushes but either to replace the motor or have it refurbished (if possible), as experience of many others is that just brush change will not cure the problem. Also often just new brushes will not last very long- maybe months rather than years. Motors are not cheap, though- ours for an 18+ year-old Bosch (including the belt which is extremely sensible to replace at the same time!) cost GBP250 ;-0(

If you judge that it is still not actually spinning fast enough and if you didn't ask specifically just for the brushes to be changed, call the service person back in again to sort as he/she has not carried out the repair.

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!
John C

I've posted the steps below, but I am also going to give you a link to the manual, as it includes pictures that might be helpful. Look for page 4.

1) Use handle release to lower handle flat
onto floor (Fig. 1).
2) Remove 4 screws from brush roll cover.
(Fig. 2).
3) Lift off brush roll cover. (Fig. 3).
4) Remove brush roll and belt. Thread new
belt around motor shaft and brush roll
(Fig. 4).
5) Insert left end of brush roll first. Make
sure end cap fits into base. Pull right
side of brush roll to stretch belt and
insert right end cap into base (Fig. 5).
Make sure it slides into position.
6) Rotate brush roll 2 turns to center belt.
7) Replace brush roll cover (Fig. 3).
8) Replace 4 screws (Fig. 6).

My hotpoint wm63p washing machine when in wash cycle works up until the last spin and then u hear clicking and the machine will skip the cycle and stop or sometimes just continue to the next dial cycle..i...

If you have changed the brushes are satisfied that they are fitted correctly, then it can be a couple of possibilities.
1- The motor itself is faulty.Even though it does the wash o/k it is possible the spin winding is faulty.
2- The prograqmmer is faulty.
Make sure the pump is working o/k, and that all the water has drained out, as this would stop it spinning

I need to replace the brushbaron my DC17 Animal model Dyson. It's almost four years old. I can't find the correct part number on the Dyson Website and I can't seem to find a Dyson repair center in...

Hi,

The original Dyson part number for the brush bar (often called brush roll) is: 911961-01

If you type the above part number into Google Products (click link below) you will get a list of suppliers at varying prices. A genuine Dyson part will cost about $20-25. There are some cheaper replacements available but you may need a different belt to use these, so I suggest you buy an original. Make sure the supplier states the part is Original / Genuine Dyson or OEM.

I can't help you locate a Dyson service centre in Albuquerque, but you should be able to fit the new brush bar yourself. If you do need a local service centre, you can call Dyson on the following number - they will provide details of your nearest authorised service centre:

Dyson Helpline (USA): 1-866-MY-DYSON / 1-866-693-9766

8am - 8pm (CST) Monday to Friday
9am - 3pm (CST) on Saturday
10am - 2pm (CST) on Sunday

If you need any further assistance, please post back.

Please rate this solution if you find it helpful. Thanks!

My dremel works intermitently. As I move the switch from one speed to another it will momentarlly run. Whats the problem? THANKS

You described intermitten pwer supply, follow this procedure:

1. check your power cord for breaks or kinks, especially where it join the piece or plug
2. if cord is ok, check/replace brushes.

To check/replace brushes on dremel 395 follow this procedure:

1. switch off unit, remove power cord.
2. with flat screwdriver remove gently brush covers, WATCH FOR LITTLE SPRINGS!!!
3. check brushes for wear, springs if connect correctly, if brushes are thinner than 3.2mm (1/8") replace with new ones, this check should be carried regardless after about 50hrs of use, brushes last about 50 to 60hrs in normal use.

In unlikely case that it is switch, this is as well very easy replaceable.

1. switch off unit
2. remove cable from power source
3. remove brushes following previous procedure
4. remove collar from front of the piece
5. remove side screws and gently pry apart halves, label side up
6. replace switch
7. screw pieces back in reverse order
8. replace back brushes.

All parts are easy available, when purchase brushes or switch, be aware that they fit only particular model!

I would recommend clean table with butcher paper on top, torx/hex screwdriver, philips screwdriver, flat screwdriver - these vary from country to country, I cannot provide what exactly tools you will need, you need to check what screws are holding your piece together, little long nose pliers can be helpful as well.

As you pull handpiece apart put your parts in order in whihc you pulled them apart, when you put them back, it will be easy to put them back in reverse order in which them come apart. For changing brushes you need about 5min (assign 15min), for changing switch or faulty power cord you need about 1h (assign 3hrs), assigned time is theoretical, prctically multiply it by 3...

If you have anymore questions, or require more detailed instructions, do not hesitate to follow this thread and leave note.

Leave note how it go, thanx!

Hoover belt 38528 is broken where can we find the replacement part and how can I install it again? or is there a place to get service for this vacuum cleaner?

Try your local yellow pages and see if there's a vacuum shop around your area. If so, they will be able to help you with a replacement belt and assist you on putting it on.

Most vacuum shops carry parts for Hoover and will service the vacuum (change filters, clean brush rollers)

I need motor brushes for campbell hausfeld WL611105AJ air comp.

If you can find a match to the brushes that came out of the motor they will work. When I say match, I mean the size. Height, width and depth, length only needs to be close to allow for wear over time. The longer the brush the more wear you will get. If you can't find the exact size then you can always file a larger brush to fit. I just had to do that for a small motor in my shop-vac, works great. Also another consideration is how the line coming off the back of the brush connects to the Stator. If you can't match the connector soldering it is fine or crimp the appropriate connector to it. Beyond those two elements brushes are pretty much the same.

Your biggest problem is finding an assortment of brushes. Some hardware stores will carry some, (check the bins with all the small nut, bolts and other connectors), also automotive parts stores carry them, (for alternators),. Your best bet would be an electric motor repair shop.
Good luck
