Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Hi, I am in Pakistan and just got my wii purchased from US. First thing I did was to purchase a 220v adapter for Pakistan. I started wii and it walked me through settings configuration. I inserted Wii Play and as soon as I clicked on WiiPlay button the screen went blank and power led to red. I pressed power button which turned to green and when I clicked on Wii play button again same thing happened i.e. blank screen and red led. since then the wii refuses to turn on. the power led is red, whenever i presses it blinks once and disc drive's blue light blinks and then nothing. same thing happens when i press eject button. So I cannot eject the game as well I have waited for 3 hours but no success. I have checked that the fan is also not working. Is there some sort of fuse inside the wii that has gone out?

Machine was purchased in USA what is a power supply?

USA standard is 110v. You need a "power adapter" to transform your 220v to 110v. Most US purchased electronics do not have switchable voltage.

Wii 100v plugged into 220v

Might try a different a/c adapter from gamestop or someplace else.....If that doesnt work, it may have internal fuses that popped.....If it doesnt the its toast.

Sir, I got Epson stylus 480 printer and unfortunately in Pakistan voltage is 220v but i imported it from america where voltage is 120v so i directly turned it on and it started once on 220v and now not...

What you should have done before using your Epson stylus printer was to purchase a Voltage Converter able to convert 220 volt into 120 volt.

You probably "burned" out the printers electrical circuit because you let 220 volt directly into a device built for 120 volt.

If it is the other way around f.ex. connecting a 220 volt device into a 120 volt outlet it will not destroy the product. Only the product may not work as it is supposed to or it will be slower.

Here is a site with a voltage comparision chart, that can help you to choose a Voltage Converter for your purposes.

My Nintendo wii console was unintentionally plug to 220V, is there a fuse inside the unit?

The great thing about the Nintendo Wii is that the AC Adapter is external.

When you plug the AC adapter into a 220V, it takes the hit and dies. Your Wii should be OK.

You should only need a new AC adapter which you can get at the following website and everything should be fine with your Wii Console:

Plugged US purchased Wii into Europe outlet with an adapter and n

You would need an adapter that not only runs at 120 or 240 volts, but also one that OUTPUTS 120v. The Wii may have some kind of protection in it if you're lucky (most people don't hook up US Wii's to 240v). But if not, you've killed your Wii. Check the adapter, if it has a fuse that's removable you should see a (usually) circular cap kind of thing on the brick you can unscrew and pull the fuse out.
As for what you would need to purchase, it would be something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Step-down-voltage-converter-240V/dp/B000L99ZJ2 would work perfectly. The Wii only draws at maximum 30watts and this unit does 100. Your TV on the other hand would need a higher wattage unit.

Does Nintendo Wii work abroad?

Hey Erolon,

Nintendo Wii's sold within the United States will primarily be NTSC-formatted devices. Unfortunately, because Europe utilizes the PAL format instead of NTSC, you would need to have an NTSC-compliant TV in order to use a Wii purchased within the U.S.

Please also keep in mind that video games are often region-coded to work only with the consoles sold in the same area of the world. In other words...if you were to purchase a Wii within the U.S., you would only be able to play video games purchased within the U.S. as well.

Additionally, remember that the United States and Europe use different electrical standards: 110V/60Hz for the U.S. and 220V/50Hz for Europe. In order for any electrical device purchased within the U.S. to function properly overseas, a voltage adaptor may be required.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
