I have a LG GC290SW which will not eject the tapes. It would appear that something is jammed.

Thanks. In this technical age nothing is simple.

    Go well!

Not really. I just learned that it is beyond my meagre knowledge.

    Thanks for the service anyway.

Usually when this happens it is the tape load.eject motor that has failed, either that and or the controller for it, or the sensor for it, or the Mode Switch, or all of them maybe faulty. One has no exact way of knowing until the unit is examined. However there are really no user serviceable parts, and you will have to find the part numbers from the service manual.
My professional advise to you, is to contact an LG head office, ask them for a referral to an authorised servicing center. Now when there, please ask them for a "Quote" for the repair, this then will give you an idea of costings, also you can decide as to repair or replace, as sometimes, seemingly minor faults, can quickly add up to the cost of a new unit.

The system just shuts off after the word "eject" appears on the screen.

It is likely mechanical disassembly will be required to extract the damaged cassette in the B drive and the jammed cassette in the A drive. The electromechanical A-B switching mechanism may have failed because of age aor failure of synchronization. The tapes, if very thin or stretched could be a contributing factor.

VHS tape will not eject.

The elctromagnetic tape may be jammed inside. Open the front access to the VHS and inspect for some jams such as toys (if you have kids). You can try grabbing the VHS tape with something while pressing the eject button. Sometimes it needs some assistance to overcome the jam. Good luck!

Will not close while tape is in ejecter, alarm beeps and screen says (remove cassete), but will however close without tape??? canon mv830i digital camcorder...

Several things could be happening...the tape is backwards, upside down, inverted or just wrong type since it closes without it. Next check to see on the inside if something is jamming the tape. While it closes without a tape there could be something that jams when a tape is inserted.

Vcr jams on eject

What do you mean 'Tape crunches" Do you mean that there is tape slack, which then crunches when Tape is lifted during Eject? If that is the case, then the Supply Reel Roller Brake is bad. it is a Felt Pad, which needs replacing. If the entire eject operation is wonky, or if it's timing is bad, then I suspect that One of the eject Gears (On either side of the Mechanism) is damaged and needs to be replaced. One question, i assume that you are able to eject the Tape eventually, and so - Does the Tape Load into the VCR properly, when you insert it into the machine? This will help me in giving you a better diagnosis.

Problems ejecting a tape

Take to a decent camera shop, they probably won't charge fr pulling it out, if it can be done w/o disassembly. They could also give you a better idea on the problem at hand, and you'll be able to make a more informed decision. It could be something small stuck in the teeth of the gears and jamming it. Good luck
