DVD drive for copying parts of old DVD's.

Well, I just signed up for the premium assistance, so maybe this is already in process to be answered. But the problem is that I don't know how to edit, or copy parts of a DVD (doesn't seem to involve copy protect) to compile into a new DVD. My DVD player burner was added on and the software is Cyberlink, Power Producer/Power Director. Does one copy the whole DVD into Cyberlink ? Even then there does not seem to be any explanation on how to select, or snip out parts to save to a "project" ?

CD/DVD RIVE NOT WORKING

This is a problem with several answers, however; for the most part, consider the Media that is inserted into the drive. If it is a COPY for example, the copy made on another computer may not line up correctly. The CD/DVD has magnetic lines that are true, very much like a phonograph record. If they do not line up correctly, they will not Read or Write. The other problem can be the Laser Head. If the reading head is misaligned, it too will have a problem reading data. The best way to get around the problem is to transfer the data from the CD/DVD media to a USB Flash drive, and go that route, or get an external USB CD/DVD for about 30 bucks at Wal Mart.

Not read

When connected to the computer, make sure the drivers have been installed. Usually, this will occur soon as the unit is plugged in. If you are using USB to do this, and you plug it in to one port, and nothing happens, or the unit is unrepsonsive; try using a different USB port, or try using a different applicable cord, compatible with both the unit, and the computer. If this doesn't work, depending on how long ago you purchased the unit (brand new?) then I suggest taking it back to the place of purchase and seeing if you can either trade it, or find out if someone can further instruct you of it's installation process.

My DVD-Rom is unable to read (detect) any blank DVD.It is reading movie or any other already written DVD,but not a blank one.I am not getting whats wrong with my DVD-Rom.Please help me.

try using nero as explorer may not readily detect blanks. Also ensure the writer is a dvd writer and not just a dvd rom
To ensure compatibilty with the ever increasing range of media, an update to the burner .is usually all that is needed, this is called firmware upgrade
Most drives will read anything, and most burners are
now "all formats", but you may have a burner that is
either one or other, not both, thats to say, your burner
maybe only a "DVD+R/RW" - note the "plus" sign.
whereas your blank media maybe "DVD-R/RW"

Suddenly my dvd drive for compaq c700 presario wont appear on my computer and also it wont open and no light was appearing on the said drive

hmm, if the light is out the drive is probably dead. since it's a laptop prety much the only reliable source for parts is going to be here: http://www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html

just go through the "solve a problem" process and you will eventualy be directed to either the warranty service or the parts department depending on how old your machine is.

I have downloaded Files to Memorex Disk, but is unable to play it back. Should I have a special set-up for Memorex. Product- Memorex DVD+RW writable.

See this link for possible help with this issue.
Otherwise, let us know what OS you're on, and what program you're using to write the dvd.
If you're using xp, you'll need another software program aside from windows to play back dvds. If you don't already have one, this free player is well liked by many.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Dvd copying and burning....

Yes, this is how you do it, you just instruct the dvd burner program to 'copy disk' and it will make a temp image on your hard drive, ask for another blank dvd and burn the copy for you. Its not labor intensive but does take time to babysit and label the copies. I use a sharpie initially and later use the label maker to make a decent label.

Any other questions, just use th comment box to do so.
