SINGER iNGENUITY 7436 not picking up bobbin thread hitting on plastic piece

My needle hits on the plastic piece that is under the bobbin thread. The thread bunched up and then the needle started hitting. It looks like it need retiming, but I can't find out how to do that.

No we did not oil moving parts

  • New2sew May 11, 2008

I have the manual and it does not have anything for this problem other than replacing the needle. I have done this and it does not fix it.

  • New2sew May 11, 2008

Have done this. The bobbin is out and the black piece that holds the bobbin is also out. The needle hits the plastic piece under the bobbin holder when reverse stitching or doing regular stitch. From what I have found on this site, it needs retiming, but I can't figure out how to do that.

  • New2sew May 11, 2008

I have done all of this and it still hits under the bobbin holder.

  • New2sew May 11, 2008

Thanks, but this did not help resolve it either. Still not fixed.

Hi,

Once you have the bobbin case in with about 4 inches of thread coming off and once you have the top threaded with about 4 inches coming from the needle, take the needle thread lightly to the back and turn the balance wheel by hand towards you to pick up the bobbin thread and lay both threads to the back ready to sew.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution

This is usually caused by a problem with the bobbin case. Check the bobbin and bobbin case. Try removing and reinserting the bobbin and pull on the thread. The thread should pull easily

Try these corrections: (1) Rethread the machine; (2) Reduce the thread tension (lower number); (3) Select a larger size needle; (4) Remove and reinsert a new needle, flat side toward the back of the machine.

Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism

Possible thread is wrapped somewhere in the mechanism preventing the machine from moving freely.

How do I get my machine to start sewing and stop beeping?

try rethreading the machine--use EVERY thread guide
make sure the needle is inserted up into the needle holder and turned the right direction
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case and turned the right direction
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for loose thread or lint
make sure thread has not come off the thread take up lever
also the jam could have caused the machine to jump time and needs a timing or a adjustment

Upper thread keeps breaking

The needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

The needle will not stay threaded every time i mash the peddle to start sewing, the needle comes unthreaded

Place the upper thread, along with your lower thread UNDER the presser foot....you may not be allowing enough thread off of the bobbin and roll. Pull out the thread to about 6 inches and see what happens, Happy Sewing!

Top thread does not engage bobbin thread

Check the needle to be sure it is not bent or mis-installed. The flat side of the needle shank faces to the back to the machine.

If this does not work, open the manual and wind and install the bobbin, then thread the machine - using the written instructions as the pictures, although helpful, can mislead.

Continue by lowering and raising the threaded needle (hold on to the end of the thread) to bring up the bobbin thread.

Pull both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Hold onto the threads and lower the needle into the fabric and then use the power pedal to begin sewing.

If the top and bottom thread still do not form a stitch, the machine needs to go into the shop for service as the alignment needs to be adjusted.

Using Singer 7470 for the first time, and my bobbin thread is bunching terribly. There is a loud sound from the bobbin chamber, as if the mechanism is bouncing around??? How can I fix this bobbin issue?...

1. Take bobbin out and re-insert and thread.
If that dosen't work, try:
2. Take bobbin out and bobbin case, clean area and re-insert bobbin case and bobbin.
If that dosen't work, try:
3. Re-thread the top thread that goes to the needle. (Sometimes the thread dosen't hook to the "Thread take-up"(page 6 on manual). It pulls the bobbin thread and the bobbing becomes loose inside the bobbin case.
If that dosen't work, try:
4. Wind a new bobbin (Sometimes a bobbin might wind thread to lose) Do not wind thread to the edge of bobbin.
If that dosen't work, you should take it in to be serviced...Somenthing might become loose that only a technitian can correct.
Also check manual for troubleshooting.
Good luck.....
