Hi, im strugling to answer my assignment question that says" describe the concept open software."

Is that the exact question? Or is it open source software?
Open Source Software Meaning:
In a nutshell, open source software is computer software that is distributed along with its source code - the code that is used to create the software - under a special software license. The license allows users to use, change and improve the software's source code, and to redistribute the software either before or after it has been modified. If you make any modifications to the source code, one of the conditions of open source is that you have to provide information to other developers about what has been changed, and how. The software that is created as a result of modifications to the source code may or may not be made available for free.

Pico 301 turn on but can not be locked on any source it just keep running the auto source finder on and on endlessly

If the set has a source button on the set itself try to defeat it (unsolder) to see if it is causing this--more common than most people think.

The projector finds my VGA port and projects for a second or two, and then loses it, displaying the word "lost"

First check it with new best quality VGA cable. If the problem is still there, change the source connected to VGA port (i.e. Laptop or PC). Sometimes such things occur in Auto Source. Remove Auto Source from the menu for automatic selection of source. Keep the VGA port as first source to display. You will have to check it in the menu. In spite of Auto Source you can always select your desired source with source button also. If problem is still not corrected tell us the Make & model of the projector so that it can be better diagnosed.

Phone jack wiring

Its typical in apartments for the phones to come in through a single source and then fan out to other wire leads to the rest of the phone jacks in the place. However, I think its odd that your 'source 2' has 9 wires. I'd expect 8.
One idea is to take off a phone plate in another room and see if the wire colors on source 2 or 3 match the unknown source wires. If so, then just match the wires that connect to the same plugs in the plates.
