This issue generally occurs with Win XP computers. Here is how we fix it:

1) Connect a computer to the router with an ethernet cable
2) Open the router interface to make changes by typing 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of the browser like internet explorer or mozilla firefox or safari(Mac)
3) Enter the login code as "admin"

Now to avoid validating issue, you can enable WPA-PSK security type or adding the wireless network manually will help. We will choose the 1st method to fix your problem.

4) Click on WIRELESS on the left panel
5) Select the HOME tab on the top
6) Select the authentication as WPA-PSK and make up your wireless security passphrase and confirm the same at the below given box.
7) Change the SSID to a different name(whatever you want with no spaces)
8) Click APPLY CHANGES.

This method will also enhance the wireless security. Its an added advantage!

Kindly, revert for any clarifications...

Thanks and regards,
Arvind

Hello, I have an Averatec 3200 and it lets me use the Starbucks network when I get a coffee, but when I try it on the shared internet I have with my neighbor, all it says is "Connected...Validating...

if you were to go to manage wireless networks, remove the network you are trying to connect to. then go to available networks and try to connect again. it should ask you for the wireless password now

Widows will not validate the identity of my wireless router

Are you using a software disk? What is the wireless device? I'm not sure what you mean by "validate the identity"? Does the Laptop see the wirelss in Available Wireless Networks, in the windows Network and Sharing Center? Is the wireless password protected? What OS are you using in the IBM ThinkPad T40.

I need to no how to lock my wireless router

hi

the way u do it is to encrypt the signal requiring any computer or device connecting to it to first validate their identity with a network Key, basically a password. to do this simply access your router's control panel via an internet browser (the address is usually something like "192.168.1.1" it should be either written on the router somewhere or in the manual)

Once logged into the router, find the wireless settings and change the encryption to "64bit or 128bit WEP" your router may require series of ASCII numbers or if u are lucky you can set the encryption with a password. (for ecample it will ask you for 128bit WEP then require u to write a passphrase which will then be used to generate the encryption)

save it then reconnect your PC to your network (with whatever window you used to connect in the first place, either Windows wireless connection thingy or the one your wireless card/usb stick came with) it will ask you to enter the wireless key to connect, just type in whatever you set in the router, making sure it is trying to connect with the same bit rate (64, 128 etc) and press ok.

after all that only you and whoever you give the code to will be able to access your internet, no more dammed bandwidth thieves ;p

vote me plz

What do I need to do to validate? I don't even get a prompt for a password, it just goes straight to connecting then hangs on "Validating Identity" Linksys wireless router won't connect

If you installed a new Linksys router then open a broswer window and type the following into the url address:

http://192.168.1.1

The default password is "admin". Leave the user name blank. This will open up your router's configuration page. You can then modify your settings.

My dell Laditude D610 keeps saying validating identity when i try to connect to my new network.

I had an idea for your "validating identity problem."

Can you get to a dialog box that shows the "Properties" for your wireless networks. What we are looking for is specific for the connection to your wireless network.

We want to get to a page that asks if you want to "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network." If you disable this (no check mark), does the "validating identity" problem go away?

Let me know if you need more specific help.

Dell Inspiron 8600 validating problems

This is a problem associated with a wireless connection. What it is asking for is the identity of your wireless lan. That is, the name the router is broadcasting. This is called the network ID.and is what you must supply when asked. If you untick the IEEE.802.1 you disable the connection. You will also need to have the nework securety code (WEP) to logon.

Getting a validating identity message that stays there for minutes then I get little or no connectivity. Using WPA-personal with a 12 character password

I think the problem is the little or no connectivity. If you're not getting a good signal the verification process with your WPA and password is timing out before you can get verified. You probably need to turn antenna or get less blockage between you and source before trying.

D-Link Wireless: validating identity

I believe this has to do with your automatic router/setup for wireless networks....but this is what I did to clear the same problem:

1) Right click on the tray icon that is searching for validation and select status.

2) A "Wireless Network Connection Status" box will open, click "Properties".

3) Your "Wireless Connection Properties" box will open showing the Wireless Networks available. Find the wireless network you are connected to and highlight it by clicking once, then click "Properties" just below.

4) Another box will then open with the properties for your network. Click on the "Authentication" tab.

5) Un-check the "Enable IEEE 802.1x Authentication...." checkbox.

You're good to go.... :)

Validating identity

it is just that the network key which is stored in the computer is not working so the 1st thing u need to do is verify the network key for that go to 192.168.0.1 from internet explorer enter the user id & password of ur dlink ( default id: admin password : admin) the go to wireless check the WEP or security key which is present their. reenter that key the computer & try to connect.

If it didn't work then go to control panel >> system >> hardware>> device manager

look for the network adepter & unintall the wireless network card
restart the computer
once restart it will automatically reintall the wireless card driver
then go to control panel>>Network Connection
right click on wireless network connection
select view wireless network connect
select ur network name & connect it will ask for the key provide the key & once u do that it will get connected & work fine

if in case u have the same problem replay back & i help u out with it & also provide all the details like which windows & network card etc
