Re: whirlpool gold washing machine
Close your faucet valve & unscrew your hoses to check screens on hoses & machine. Clean out well. Refit, check for leaks. Water shd be in good pressure. If this is not the problem change your inlet valve, it is easily done.

If you're sure it is heating the water, then it sounds like the wash motor/pump has failed. If you've worked on washing machines and/or dish washers before, this is potentialy a DIY job - the Haynes Dishwasher manual is very good, and parts can be found on the internet.
The reason for cheking it is actually heating the water is that the symptoms sound very similar to those of a failed heater = fill, pause, empty, stop usually accompanied wth an error code. Error code will be presented by a number of flashes of a lamp, or a number on a display panle depending whch machine you've got.
Replace water pump. Common problem. Unscrew the control panel ,two screws on each end. Flip control panel over and unsnap gold brackets from base to the back. Lift up housing and disconnect lid switch, remove housing. The water pump is in the front lower that has two hoses , disconnect hoses and unsnap pump. My sister fixed hers in about 25 minutes.
You have a Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II Washing Machine. And the washer will
fill with water, but when it tries to go to another cycle you just hear
a loud rumbling noise and the basket will not spin? Correct?
Sounds like the coupling connecting the transmission to the agitator is worn out!
If I were there hands on I could be definite. But it sounds like you need this replaced! Thank God it's not the transmission. When a transmission goes out of warranty, it;s not worth putting good money into bad! They are just to expensive a repair!
Only a hands on laundry tech can make the diagnoses. This time you should call service
