Sorry, my first question was not clear enough. I have a Whirlpool GBD307PRS00. The display on the front went out (clock, oven temp, etc.). The buttons on the front will still beep but there is no display. You can still turn on the oven lights by opening the doors or pressing the button on the display. The display came back on once and the time was still correct. After about 12-16 hrs. it went blank again. What needs to be replaced and is it a fix that a handyman can complete. I have repaired my washing machine with the help of this website.

Thank you for your help. Does the oven have to be pulled out to replace the control panel or does the front display disconnect?

Most probably the information multi cable on display board is loose and not connecting well. So you need to remove the panel and reach the display board and check the cable connection on it by pressing them.

However there is small chance that the Display board is faulty so you need to replace it unfortunately this is one unit with the Electronic control unit and is an expensive part $200. So have a very good visual check and also check all wires very carefully since if you find a loose connection then this will worth 200$.

In any case here are the details of the Electronic control board

Electronic control - Microcomputer
Part Number: AP3873768 made by WHIRLPOOL

And here is a link where you can buy it and also a diagram for you to help you find it.

The display is nothing more than a light bulb. If you look really close you might be able to see the display change. They have a really small light bulb behind the display, but sometimes they go out. But you still have to replace the whole display.

OK! It sounds like instead of the light bulb that I talked about going out, just isn't getting a good connection. If you bump the side of the oven by the display does it blink or come on?

  • mg12480 Sep 15, 2010

There is still no display. I don't believe that it's a light bulb issue. I think it's a control panel issue of some sort.

I agree 100% it is a control panel issue. This display has a small light bulb that is suppose to shine all the time. The digital display has small windows that open, an 8 all of the windows are open for example, and for a 6 all of the windows except for the top right window is closed. But the light behind the windows is not lit. That is why it is holding the correct time. The light bulb is very small. If the control panel was completely bad then it would not keep the right time.

Oven display went blank. Has Power.

Hello, The first thing I'd look at is your owner's manual to insure the timer hasn't been set to "Sabbath" mode accidently. If that is the case you could experience a "no display" scenario. The manual will also explain how to enter/exit the "Sabbath" mode. In the event the timer itself is at fault ( i.e. the display transformer gone bad ) it will have to be replaced or (if an available option exist's for your timer) have your timer rebuilt. Hope that help's and please take a second and rate the info provided by me here at fixya. Thank you and good luck. macmarkus :)

wow, that is so weird...i was just getting ready to write the exact same thing. this last time mine beeped, i just kept letting it beep for several minutes. if kept on. i then went in and pressed all the buttons except for cancel and nothing happened. then i pressed the oven light button. the beeping stopped. not sure if it's coincidence or if that was what i was supposed to press. i will keep messing with the buttons and let you know if i figure it out. i will dread if it beeps all night long.

Whirlpool Double Oven RBD305 Display doesn't show, oven wont work

Most definitely a bad control board and/or soldered components. (The part about cutting power to the oven was a dead giveaway)
There are low and high temperature solders, but usually solder melts at 370° F. If the oven is improperly insulated or ventilated you will have continued heat stress to the control board.

No display, No beeps, No heat

I was able to fix my problem by pushing the setup button and holding for about 10 sec.No where in the manual is this described. I call Jenn air and all they could suggest is that I checked the power supply!
